The Canadian brothers behind the mega-hits “Make You Mine” and “She’s With Me” have long been one of country music’s most underappreciated duos. Rather than pander to contemporary trends, High Valley, composed of Brad and Curtis Rempel, have always strayed a bit from the mainstream, staying true to their harmonic, blue-grass tinged roots. Today, they […]
About Nicole Piering
Nicole Piering is a contributing writer for NYCountry Swag.
Nicole grew up on Long Island, saying that she liked "all types of music, except country." That all changed when she randomly attended a Rascal Flatts concert at Madison Square Garden in 2007 and was immediately hooked. She'd argue that she became a country fan before country was cool, traveling around the tri-state area (and sometimes further) to attend country shows before artists started making NYC a tour stop. In addition to her love of country music, Nicole loves all things Disney-related. You can find her on Instagram at @NicolePiering.

Since bursting onto the scene with 2014’s satirical “Girl in a Country Song,” Maddie & Tae have been one of country’s most interesting acts. The duo released their first full-length album in 2015. Yet, due to unexpected career chaos, including the shuttering of their old record label, it took five years for the release of […]
Since bursting onto the scene with her unique brand of piano-infused country, Ingrid Andress has been one of the genre’s most exciting and fastest rising stars. Today (March 27), she releases her debut album, Lady Like, which shows no sign of the songstress slowing down. From the album’s opening notes of “Bad Advice” through its […]
As a country fan, it’s not always easy to get friends or family members to share your love of the genre. However, for every type of music fan, there are a few gateway artists to help ease your reluctant friends into your favorite music. In this week’s edition of “If You Like…, Then You’ll Love…,” […]
In 2014, singer-songwriter Brandy Clark burst onto the music scene with the release of her incredible debut album, 12 Stories. Since then, she has been one of the genre’s most critically lauded, yet commercially underappreciated artists. Clark is seemingly the type of artist who thrives on making art, rather than seeking the approval of the […]
