There are few things more powerful in music than real human emotion. When I think about the songs that have moved me the most in my life, I think about those moments where I could feel the artist’s every word and every emotion. So is the case on Chris Young’s newest release, “Drowning.” Young premiered […]
About Nicole Piering
Nicole Piering is a contributing writer for NYCountry Swag.
Nicole grew up on Long Island, saying that she liked "all types of music, except country." That all changed when she randomly attended a Rascal Flatts concert at Madison Square Garden in 2007 and was immediately hooked. She'd argue that she became a country fan before country was cool, traveling around the tri-state area (and sometimes further) to attend country shows before artists started making NYC a tour stop. In addition to her love of country music, Nicole loves all things Disney-related. You can find her on Instagram at @NicolePiering.

Since the January release of their debut EP, Tides, Gone West has been making major waves in country music. On Friday (June 7) the foursome released their new single, “What Could’ve Been,” a heart-wrenching ballad about love lost. With somber instrumentation and heartfelt harmonies, the quarter is filled with regret and wondering. Interestingly, Gone West […]
With his unassuming presence and every-man attitude, Luke Combs has captured the hearts of country music fans in a way that’s rarely seen nowadays. Rather than relying on glitz and glam, Combs has earned his legion of tried and true followers by staying true to his country roots and releasing great music. As the follow […]
Upon first listen, Thomas Rhett’s Center Point Road may come off as a fairly standard collection of country ballads and modern party tunes. Yet, upon further listening, Center Point Road is a collection of love letters. While some are to the expected recipient, his wife Lauren, there are also declarations of love to his home […]
For Thomas Rhett, “Center Point Road” (released today, May 24) is a celebration of small town life. As the title track of his forthcoming album, due out May 31, the song features Kelsea Ballerini and is a nostalgic look at growing up in a Southern small town. Written by Rhett, Jesse Frasure, Amy Wadge, and […]
Over a decade after the release of their debut album, Lady Antebellum have returned to their roots with “What If I Never Get Over You,” out today (May 17). The single features Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott trading lead vocals over Dave Haywood’s instrumentation, telling the tragic tale of heartbreak, as they both wonder […]
On paper, Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi seem to be an odd duo. Thomas Rhett is skinny jeans, Converse, and “new” country music, while Jon Pardi is a cowboy hat, Wranglers, and more traditional “old” country. Yet, on “Beer Can’t Fix,” released today (May 17), they make a perfect pair. The track is an uptempo […]
It’s been a busy few months for rising country star Matt Stell, who made his Opry debut on April 27, signed with Arista Nashville, and continues to see his song “Prayed for You” climb the charts. On May 24, he’ll release his EP, Everywhere But On, and today (May 10), the title-track was released. Running […]
Taylor Swift doesn’t do anything small. This was on display yesterday as the pop-country phenom popped up in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood at a mural she commissioned. For weeks, the internet has been buzzing about the mural, speculating that it was Swift’s. After her selfie-snapping appearance, she hijacked the NFL Draft in true Swift fashion, making […]
