Canaan Smith Releases An Ode to “Country Boy Things”

Canaan Smith Country Boy Things

For singer-songwriter Canaan Smith, it’s the perfect time to celebrate being a country boy. On his new song “Country Boy Things,” released today, August 23, he’s doing just that, with an up-tempo ode to all of the things that makes country boys special.

Just last week, Smith released the rollicking summer anthem, “Beer Drinking Weather,” and announced that he had signed to Florida Georgia Line’s Round Here Records as their flagship artist. “Country Boy Things” follows in a similar vein to “Beer Drinking Weather” with its anthemic party vibe. And we’d argue that it’s only a matter of time until Smith is selling merch that praises beer drinking weather and proclaims that “Country boys do country boy things.”

Here, the “Love You Like That” singer revels in everything that makes country boys different than other boys. “We get too drunk / Blame it on Hank / Hit the mud every time it rains / ‘Cause country boys do country boy things,” He sings. “Big trucks, dog in the back / Workboots, camo hat / If that’s you / You know what I mean / Country boys do country boy things.”

Smith co-wrote the track with Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley, Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three and Corey Crowder, and he couldn’t be happier with the final result. “This song reminds me of moving to Nashville – when those four-on-the-floor songs were making a comeback,” He said in a recent press release. “I’m proud of the way the band came together and made this one burn. Banjo, baby!”

In case you were wondering, here are a few other things that the song highlights: take the long way home from work because some raindrops hit the dirt, start fires with gasoline, mean what they say and say what they mean, and ask her daddy before they buy that ring.

Smith is currently on the Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour with FGL, where he has been giving fans a sneak peek at this new music. The tour will hit Darien Lake, New York on August 24 before heading South for shows in Florida and Georgia.
