Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Tyler Rich Supports @travelingmessage

It has been a tough few months in quarantine for us, our friends in Nashville, for the country, and for the world. Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, people are trying to rebuild their homes, many Americans are losing their jobs, and we are all forced to stay in as we fight through this pandemic. Despite all this turmoil, beauty and kindness have remained.

We decided to flip the script and shine our spotlight, while we can, on some of the kindness that we have witnessed from others because Kindness Isn’t Canceled. To grab your exclusive shirt, click here.

This week we chose to focus on an act of kindness that is a small, but mighty gesture. Social media is a big part of our everyday lives, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming to keep up with the Instagram “image.” However, Tyler Rich and his beautiful wife Sabina Gadecki have a knack for keeping their social media platforms humble and real. Recently, Rich posted a photo of himself with Sabina embracing, and holding a sign that reads, “Fall in Love With Yourself First.” The duo tagged an Instagram called @thetravelingmessage.

The newly formed Instagram is a site that was created to spread positivity, something we all desperately need during these unsettling times. The Instagram, created by close friends of the couple, shows beautiful images of views from around the world paired with powerful anecdotes and quotes. These messages from strangers are exactly what we need to fill up our cup. Even better, this new Instagram community encourages people to submit their own inspirational messages to be featured on the feed, so we can continue to spread the good vibes without even leaving our comfort zones! Following along here.

We look forward to continuing to keep bringing you more stories that remind us that Kindness Isn’t Canceled. Join us in our campaign, and buy yourself a t-shirt here. As always, we appreciate you support of  NYCountry Swag.

Kindess Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Robert Kenney Creates “Dad, how do I?”

Today we wanted to highlight a magnificent father, who took his own trauma, growing up without a dad, and made something good come from it. Rob Kenney, a father of two adult children, has become a YouTube sensation after starting a series entitled “Dad, How Do I?” The series focuses on teaching young people how to deal with basic household tasks through simple tutorials.

Dad, How Do I

In just one month, Kenney has garnered almost 2.1 million YouTube subscribers, showing the void he truly fills for many people out there. Kenney accomplishes this through compassionate teaching in short, to the point, videos geared towards answering questions that children without fathers or father figures may not know the answer to.

His ability to pay it forward, despite the trauma he endured in his own childhood, is both honorable and inspiring. Kenney personifies how easy it is to perform a simple act of kindness.

Check out Kenney’s “Dad, how do I?” YouTube series here.

His kindness meant that the family would have a vehicle big enough for all of the Hayes children to have a seatbelt. In keeping with the sentiment of paying it forward, and through gifts to support nonprofits that empower others to make the path easier, Walker wants to encourage individuals to seek out opportunities to help others.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Nightly News Kids Edition

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world.

This week, we learned of a cool way that a famous newscaster Lester Holt is given back to the community. Young kids, children, and even teenagers are constantly asking questions to their parents and other adults about what is going on in the world, and sometimes, mainstream news is too scary or too much for even adults. With that being said, families can only shelter their kids for so long, and truthfully, they deserve to be given the chance to understand.

Lester Holt Nightly News Kids

For all these reasons, Holt in conjunction with NBC News has started NBC NIGHTLY NEWS: KIDS EDITION as an outlet to discuss all the top stories going on in the world in a way that kids can understand and digest. The program broadcasts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, running for approximately 10 minutes. The show is also available via NBC’s Youtube channel.

Children have a voice, so it’s important that we give them the platform to be heard and to comprehend everything going on. Even so, Holt makes it a point to discuss lighthearted and happy subjects too because admit all the chaos in the world, there are positive stories to relish in too.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Music Always Prevails

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world.

This week we noticed a sobering theme in a lot of our blog posts and reviews this week, music is always there for us. For a couple weeks, new music releases we are at a standstill. We noticed when new songs were missing, but we recognized even more the impact music has, when it returned. Despite all the uncertainty and the chaos going on, music has always found a way to rise from the ashes and lift up our spirits. Music always prevails.

Many artists in the country music genre have shared some new music over the past few weeks that were inspired by their own experiences during this pandemic or just released in spite of the isolation. Hope and relatability are the common threads between all the new music. It was the gift we needed.

Here are a few of our favorites so far.

  1. “Six Feet Apart”- Luke Combs

But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows / And there will be light after dark / Some day when we aren’t six feet apart”

  1. “Ya Heard”- Thomas Rhett

People say you’ve got a way of being pretty funny while you make us wait / cause I look at these babies crawling up on me / the ones that I bothered you about since I was 23 / Ya I know that I wasn’t wasting breath or words cause I look at them and I look at her / More than I deserve yeah I’m pretty sure ya heard”

  1. “humble and kind”- Avenue Beat (cover)

When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you / When the work you put in is realized / Let yourself feel the pride, but / Always stay humble and kind”

  1. “When I Say Amen”- Rachel Wammack

At the end of a prayer / Running out on the edge / On fire like a sunset / I lift my hands / To first love shooting stars / Burning candles in the dark / Every step, every breath / That’s when I say amen”

  1. “Better Than Me”- Riley Green

With all this goin’ on / I found some right in all this wrong / And I finally see / The good Lord knows better than me”

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: John Krasinski’s ‘Some Good News’

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world.

This week we are excited to share with you actor Jon Krasinski’s new Youtube web series called ‘Some Good News.’ Like us, Krasinski aims to highlight some good news and positive stories from around the world. The ‘news’ show is dedicated to spreading only positive messages to people. His project is the perfect way for someone with his resources and connections to share and spread kindness with his fans and a wider audience.

Krasinski invites some of his famous friends like Steve Carrell and Brad Pitt to the show, as well as, some inspiring people like Coco, a 15-year-old, who has recently had her last chemotherapy treatment. He also shares clips of good news that have been submitted by people all over the world.

In the first episode of the show Krasinki ends with Krasinski ‘signing off,” adding “no matter how tough life can get, there’s always good in the world.” This embodies the whole project as a whole. Somehow he has managed to find a way to provide us with real news, comic relief, and a sense of humility during these unprecedented times.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Nurses Helping Nurses Helping Us

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world.

We would be remiss if we did not take a moment to spotlight some of the amazing essential workers, who we are so thankful for during these times. Today, we specifically would like to thank all the nurses and the medical professionals, who have dedicated their lives to keeping us healthy and safe.

For the past couple of weeks, nurses from other parts of New York State and other states in the country have come out in droves to New York City and the surrounding areas to lend their services to our beautiful city in order to fight this pandemic. Nurses from North Carolina, Florida, and many other states have left their own families and loved ones behind with a will to save lives.

These nurses are truly putting themselves in what has been described as a “war zone” for the betterment of us. It’s truly an incredible act of courage and selflessness that we cannot fully express our gratitude for. We thank them for their kindness.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: 10 Ways You Can Spread Kindness

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world.

Today, in celebration of our first batch of shirts being shipped, we decided to share ten ways that we can all help continue to spread kindness. Let us know if you try any!

  1. Offer to do a chore (like cooking dinner or cleaning the bathroom) that you do not normally do for your family.
  2. Pay for the person in the car behind you in the drive-through line or behind you at the supermarket.
  3. Purchase essential items from small businesses and local businesses that you want to support.
  4. Buy gift cards to restaurants that you love to order take-out or to go out to dinner once we are all able to again.
  5. Draw an uplifting picture or write some positive affirmations and hang it on your front door for cars or people walking to see.
  6. Make a care basket or write a letter to one of your friends, family members or even a stranger and leave it on their doorstep or in their mailbox to brighten their day.
  7. Donate to a charity of your choice.
  8. Spread the word about an organization or an artist that you love via social media.
  9. Share your talent via Youtube or another platform to help people learn a new skill during downtime.
  10. Simply smile because smiling is contagious.
