It was an exciting day for the women of Nashville yesterday (Nov. 13), as CMT announced the newest class of its Next Women of Country program, which highlights the genre’s next big female superstars. Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild was on hand to induct the newest class of featured women, while Maren Morris received the 2018 Impact Award, presented to a woman who has, according to CMT, “made lasting contributions to songwriting, recording, radio airplay, record sales, streams, media impressions, awards and touring in country music over the past year.”

The 2019 Next Women of Country are many of our favorites, including Anna Vaus, Emily Hackett, Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Duski, Leah Turner, Rachel Wammack, Stephanie Quayle and Tenille Townes.

In addition to celebrating the future of females in country, CMT announced it’s sixth CMT Next Women of Country Tour, to be headlined by a member of CMT’s first class of “Next Women,” Cassadee Pope. The 2019 outing marks the former Voice winner’s first headlining tour, and she’ll be joined on tour by Clare Dunn and Hannah Ellis. Previous headliners of the Next Women of Country Tour include Sara Evans, Martina McBride, and Jennifer Nettles.
