In Honor of International Women’s Day: Country Music Wives

Here at NY Country Swag, we love to spotlight incredible artists and industry people to learn from their success and failures. We especially love to champion the success of women in this field, and with International Women’s Day this Friday we were inspired to compile a list of some of the very talented and successful women, who just so happen to be married to some of country music’s biggest stars.

Nicole Kidman

Married to CMA Entertainer of the Year, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman is the epitome of a boss. She, of course, is an actual movie star and producer. Having won awards, including Oscars and Golden Globes, Kidman can literally do it all. Additionally, she is an activist and a Goodwill Ambassador, who takes pride in charity work, especially for organizations geared towards empowering women. Urban and Kidman are always there to support each other’s endeavors, making their marriage and love something to be admired.

The beautiful and compassionate, Lauren Akins is the wife of country star Thomas Rhett. Even before she found herself in the spotlight, Akins had committed to helping children around the world. She frequently visits Africa to work with the organization 147 Million, which assists in providing critical needs to impoverished children impacted by the orphan crisis. Akins adopted her daughter Willa Gray through the mission and continues her work with those children. She also works in Uganda with a sister organization, Love One International, where she created a jewelry line to help raise money.

Russell Dickerson’s wife, Kailey, was our February 2018 ‘Woman of the Month’ because of her hardworking and selfless personality. During her education at Belmont University in Nashville, she discovered her knack and passion for photography, leading her to launch her own photography business Kaileyography. She has traveled the world taking pictures for all different charitable organizations, including when friends, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins adopted their daughter, Willa Gray. Caroline Boyer

Married to superstar, Luke Bryan, Caroline Boyer can hold her own next to her multi-faceted husband. Boyer’s name may not be as recognizable as some other’s because she chooses to keep a low profile. Although she lives a quiet life, she is a busy woman. She is a mother of two boys, they also adopted their nephew back in 2014.  She is a big part of the Brett Boyer Foundation, an organization was created out of tragedy, when her niece, Sadie Brett Boyer passed away as an infant, due to complications related to Congenital Heart Disease and Down Syndrome. The organization aims to raise awareness and funds for improving patient’s lives and provide support for families. She continues to be a staple at all events for the foundation, as well as, an essential part in spreading the message.

Morgane Stapleton

The wife of the talented Chris Stapleton, Morgane Stapleton is a force to be reckoned with. Besides being a rockstar mother of four with one on the way, she is a singer-songwriter in her own right. Morgane often performs with her husband, singing background and harmony vocals both live and recorded. Stapleton credits his wife for being instrumental in the creation of his award-winning record. In addition, she has written songs for artists, such as Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler, as well as, provided background vocals on records for singers such as Dierks Bentley and Lee Ann Womack.

These wives of country musicians all embody women with ambition, compassionate, and most importantly, can and do serve as role models to other women both in and out of the industry. These women and many others can stand on their own, as well as, in support of their awesome husbands. We hope to continue to see and champion more and more women as they find their success.  For more incredible women in the music industry, check out our Women of the Month series.
