Kane Brown is kicking off 2019 with a bang. Not only did the platinum-selling country singer begin his ‘Live Forever Tour’ last night in Duluth, Georgia, but he also joined R&B star Khalid on a remix of his single, “Saturday Nights” which was released today.
Brown teased fans of this collaboration via his Twitter last week when he posted a video of himself singing along to the original track. This is not the first time he has ventured off to a different genre for a sure to be hit duet. Last year, he was featured on a remix of pop star, Camila Cabello’s platinum-selling hit “Never Be The Same.”
“Saturday Nights” was originally released in October of 2018 on Khalid’s sophomore project, Suncity. Brown has now taken over the second verse, putting his own spin on this tale of a woman with obstacles standing in the way of her dreams. He sings, “Saturday nights, your works shoes are stilettos / Smell of cheap perfume / Makeup on your face, try to hide the pain / All the lies look like the truth / Deep in your heart, all you want is love / But you never felt good enough / You got wrapped up in other plans / But this ain’t the way the story ends” Brown later shows off his vocal skills on the bridge and in later choruses. The two voices pair together perfectly, their alluring harmonies add something special the original version did not have.
Brown is not finished with surprise collaborations just yet. On Thanksgiving of last year, he and hit-making producer Marshmello engaged in a Twitter exchange about their “jam” coming out this year. No further details have been announced, but we can sure look forward to hearing more new music from Brown in the near future.
“Saturday Nights REMIX” is now available everywhere you stream or purchase music. Take a listen below.
