NYCS Swag Spotlight: Jaden Hamilton

jaden Hamilton

Our Swag Spotlight this week shines on newcomer Jaden Hamilton. The Louisana native may only be 19 years old but he is determined to pursue a career in a field that has given him solace since he was young. In a recent chat, Hamilton tells NYCountry Swag about growing up in Prairieville, LA, a town filled with sugarcane fields and dirt roads and how he recalls listening to classic country and rock n roll. He loved singing from an early age and taught himself how to play guitar and write songs. Like so many, he played sports in high school, thinking that is what he would pursue in college however just a few short weeks after enrolling at LSU, he dropped out, knowing that there was something drawing him to music and Nashville. “I always ran back to music, whether it was an escape or what, I always went back to it,” he tells us.

Once making the move to Nashville, Hamilton explains how he learned to truly hone and work on his songwriting craft. “I would write songs in my head and sing them throughout the day, write them down when I got home but it was hard for me to finish the songs so when I moved to Nashville, it was helpful to have other people help me to get my point across and it has definitely opened a lot more doors to my mind, ways to think, ways to set up hooks, ideas, ways to get to what you are trying to say.”

Throughout his career, Hamilton has used the power of technology and the ability to let talent shine through virally to his advantage. The first cover video he posted garnered 60k views overnight, creating and building an instant fanbase. He has spent the last few months writing and creating music as well as releasing two new tracks that fans are loving. “Found Myself In a Country Song” was written by Hamilton along with Carlton Anderson and Matthew McVaney and he tells us is one of his favorites that he has written so far. “Whether it was singing on my own or listening to music, it would fix me and heal my mood,” he explains. “That song is about some of the songs that have impacted me and ways that country music has impacted me and I feel like a lot of people can relate to that.” The second song, “Long Night Letting Go” is an outside cut, however, upon first listen, Hamilton fell in love and knew he wanted to record it.

Besides releasing these two new tracks, the true blue country boy has taken to TikTok and Instagram Live to perform for his quickly growing fanbase, using the opportunity to test out new music and see what reactions are. He is looking forward to being able to play these new songs live for an audience soon, and to releasing more new tracks including a debut EP.
