Chase Rice’s new song, “Way Down Yonder” is out now, October 14th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand-new track below.
Multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Chase Rice continues to reveal the sonic shift of his upcoming project with this rugged outlaw anthem. Co-written with Hunter Phelps, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, and Corey Crowder during a writing retreat in Florida, Rice recalled thinking of the mountains of his home state of North Carolina while penning this tune.
“All of a sudden during the recording process, Rob McNelley started playing this crazy carnival sound on the acoustic… and it got Western quick. That turned it from a song I didn’t think was even going to make the cut for this next album into one of my favorite songs on the project.”

This song has everything going for it to make it a hit single on radio—the catchy lyrics; the southern-rock sound; and the wild-west imagery. The writers use a lot of same-line rhymes and alliteration to hook listeners into the story. Phrases like “Rippin’ hot rod runners,” “moonshine money,” and “Bootleg Bertie’s” flow so well with the music.
The most impressive feature of the whole song is that the video was shot in one take. The camera follows Rice around the saloon, panning to other characters hanging out in the bar as well. At one point in the video, fisticuffs break out over a poker game.
“Way Down Yonder” joins “If I Were Rock & Roll” and “Key West & Colorado” on, what Rice refers to as, his forthcoming “trackless” album. Rice honored his late father at the Grand Ole Opry earlier this week by debuting an unreleased song titled “For A Day,” which will also make the new record.
“It is the edge of the record. It’s real, it’s believable,” Rice shared in a recent press release. “There are no tracks on the record, which is different for country music these days — believe it or not — because everybody’s doing tracks. None of that. There’s not even a click on it. The whole thing was based on the feel of the drummers — us playing off each other.”
Fans can expect a more authentic and unfeigned project from Rice this time around. Rice will appear on SiriusXM The Highway’s “Music Row Happy Hour” tonight to celebrate the song’s release and share more insight into the record. See Rice perform these songs live on tour this fall. If you attended the second half of Kane Brown’s Blessed and Free Tour in the winter and got there early for Chase Rice’s set, it’s likely you heard the then-unreleased song, “Key West & Colorado.” Played acoustically live, Rice sang about his journey of getting over a past love. The singer drove around the country and learned a lot about life from the people he met and the places he visited. After stops in Texas, Minnesota, and Boston, he discovered solace on the road somewhere between the beaches of Florida and the mountains of Colorado.

The studio version adds percussion and light, synthesized guitar melodies that peacefully bring the listener to the beach. The new sound doesn’t distract us from his vocals, blending beautifully with the sobering lyrics. This is Rice’s first new release since “If I Were Rock & Roll” last October. The artwork on both singles share a similar style—the old-timey photographs may hint at the overall theme of the next album.

Just a few months after his single with Florida Georgia Line, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen,” hit the number one spot on the charts, Chase Rice is ready to give fans a new side of his artistry. Today, the singer-songwriter released a brand new, reflective song called “If I Were Rock & Roll.”
The new song is all about vulnerability and authenticity. The singer steps away from his full-production sound in favor of country music storytelling. “If I Were Rock & Roll” is a song full of relational regret and “should ofs.” Furthermore, the song marks the first time Rice has recorded a song that he has written completely independently.

Rice’s new release is a changing of the tides for the singer in some regards. It will be interesting to see if his next chapter of his artistry continues to evolve in the same direction!

Since it made it’s radio debut, Chase Rice’s collaboration with Florida Georgia Line has steadily climbed the charts. “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” was a hit with fans right away. Now the track is the number one song at country radio!
“Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ Good. Amen.” marks Rice’s second number one single. He earned his first number one back in 2019 with his hit song “Eyes On You.” For the men of Florida Georgia Line, the track marks their third collaboration to find it’s way to top spot. The platinum-selling duo had worldwide success with their song “Meant to Be” with Bebe Rexha” and Morgan Wallen’s song “Up Down.”

Country singer-songwriter, Chase Rice released three new songs today, May 28th, officially completing his latest ongoing project simply titled, The Album. Rice co-wrote all three new tracks, and eleven of the fifteen total. His current single, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen” featuring Florida Georgia Line was also included and was placed as the album’s closer. Keep reading below as we dive deeper into these new tracks.
The Album started in January of 2020 when Rice surprised his fans with Part I of the project, which contained seven tracks, including the top-15 radio single “Lonely If You Are.” Part II was released last May– nearly a year ago to the date—and contained four tracks such as “Break. Up. Drunk.” and “Belong.” Today, we have the full collection, which includes “The Nights,” “Bedroom,” and “If I Didn’t Have You.”
“It’s crazy to look back now and see the journey this album has taken us on throughout writing and recording it,” Rice noted in a recent press release. “We shared so many of these songs with the fans as they were being written and got their input along the way – so it’s their journey and lives in these, too. I think this new music will always mean a bit more to me since it has carried us all through some strange and uncertain times.”
In “The Nights,” penned by Rice, Zach Kale, and James McNair, he acknowledges the difficulty of moving on from a former relationship. Rice toggles between singing and speaking over a mid-tempo, pop, snap-track beat, recollecting the vulnerable moments between himself and this girl, as it is ironically the only thing that gets him through these tough, lonely nights without her.
“Might run me off the tracks // might drown me in the waves // might make me lose my mind // might send me to the grave // But it gets through the nights, gets me through the days // gets me through the memories I can’t escape”
It’s not a true Chase Rice album without a steamy sex song. He is definitely not shy when it comes to discussing physical intimacy in his music. Ignite the Night had “Ride,” Lambs & Lions had “On Tonight,” and now The Album has “Bedroom,” where the singer confesses his desire for this woman is so strong and the temptation is so unbearable, that they probably won’t even make it to the bedroom, but if they do, it “doesn’t stand a chance.” Rice co-wrote this track with Jimmy Robbins and his good friend, Jon Nite.
“If I know you the way you’re looking at me that way // That we don’t even make it halfway down the hallway // Once you get me how you get me once I got you in my hands, girl // That bedroom don’t stand a chance”
Women often bring out the best qualities of their men. In “If I Didn’t Have You,” Rice praises a particular woman for vastly influencing the man he is today. He lists all the things he would be and wouldn’t have if she wasn’t around. Producers Jonathan Singelton and Robbins included a heavy dose of backing electric and acoustic guitar between the chorus and following verse.

After sixteen months, we finally have the complete album. It is easy to see that these tracks were written at different times, as each part represents a different time in Rice’s and our lives. Chase Rice and Florida Georgia Line may be known for their feel-good, tailgate anthems, but they have always touched on religion and God in their music. Their new song, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” combines both elements. Written by Rice, Hunter Phelps, Cale Dodds and Florida Georgia Line producer, Corey Crowder, this song reminds us that even in unprecedented times like these, there is still a lot to be thankful for.

The track combines all the sounds of a traditional country song with a more modern production. Rice stated that although 2020 brought a lot of hardships, it has made us realize what it most important to us–family, friends and faith.
“It’s a special song in that way because it really is a celebration of what 2020 became for us and a lot of other people — slowing down to enjoy these moments with our loved ones and having deeper, more meaningful conversations with each other,” Rice said in a recent press release.
Rice helped Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard co-write one of the biggest country songs of all-time, “Cruise” in 2012. Aside from writing the Diamond-certified hit, Rice, Kelley and Hubbard roomed together when they first moved to Nashville. The three have wanted to get back in the studio together for a long time.
“We are so excited to be on this jam with our boy Chase,” Hubbard exclaimed. “We’ve dreamed of being on the radio together ever since we were roommates 10 years ago. This song is the perfect one for us, as we often find ourselves drinking beer and talking God when we get together. We hope this brings lots of good times and great conversations.”
Florida Georgia Line has been rapidly putting out new music in the past few months, including their newest single to radio “Long Live.” For Rice, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” is his first release since The Album: Part II.

Country singer-songwriter, Chase Rice, released The Album Part II today (May 15th), the follow-up to The Album Part I, which came out in January. Part II contains four tracks, three of which Rice co-wrote with his friends Jon Nite, Chris DeStefano, and other talented Nashville songwriters.
This four-track record begins with “You” (Rice, Nite, Zach Kale), a love song about how the protagonist believed they had everything they wanted until they met this other person who completely changed their outlook on life. An uncredited female singer provides background vocals in the chorus. Rice gives a shout-out to New York City with the line “You don’t know how bad that you’ve got me, no no / It’s true, without you / It’s Times Square with no lights at midnight.”
Rice, who is very active on Instagram, has teased a few songs off this album including this next one, “Break. Up. Drunk.” Rice posted a video on March 25th showing him and his producer (DeStefano) finalizing the track. It’s about a relationship in which the two parties like each other, but deep down they know it’s not going to go anywhere. So instead of being sad about it, they take advantage of their last night together by splitting a bottle of whiskey and getting into bed together.
“It’s gonna hurt like hell and I don’t wanna feel too much / If we’re gonna break up let’s break up drunk”
There are not many songs Rice records that he doesn’t co-write, but this song was too special to pass on. “I’d say, it’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever put out,” he says of the next track “Down Home Runs Deep.” “It takes me back to high school. I grew up in a small little town in the mountains of North Carolina, and it was just me and my buddies. We thought we ran that town and, in some ways, I guess we kind of did.” This song was written by Daniel Ross, Mike Walker, James McNair, and one of our favorite rising, country stars, HARDY. Listeners can tell it’s a HARDY song within the first few lines as he describes his hometown with very specific characteristics and catchy phrases. “Smelled the sweet of them pines / And it’s honeysuckle, belt buckle paradise,” he sings in the first verse.
Rice said the final song, “Belong,” wasn’t originally slated for this album, but he felt that it could be used as a comfort to people during these trying times. This is definitely the most meaningful song he has ever released. He discusses how fear, hardships, and uncertainty are all a part of life, and there are positives to be gained in any negative situation. For example, he tells the story of a kid who sold his Jordans for his mother’s treatments, and that helps him realize there’s still love in the world. He also mentions how he feels lost in his cell phone at times, but that phone allows him to remember lyrics and melodies that pay his bills. “The moral of the story is we’re right where we belong,” Rice assures. “Don’t panic. We’re gonna get out of this and the thing is, we’re gonna do it together.”
Rice is also contributing to COVID-19 relief. The “Lonely If You Are” singer announced on his Instagram page last week that he is now on Cameo, a website where users pay celebrities to give personalized shout-outs to their friends and family. He joked that he would use the extra cash for beer money, but actually, he is donating 100% of the profits made from the site to his band and crew.
Rice is scheduled to open up select dates for Rascal Flatts on their Life is a Highway Tour. Although we are uncertain if we will see any concerts this summer, we are certain that these are not the final tracks on The Album; there will be a part III that fans can expect later this year. Rice has grown a lot as an artist over the years and we are excited to see what he has in store for us.

Chase Rice kicked off the new year with a big surprise for his fans by dropping his much-anticipated album titled, The Album Part I at last Friday. If you follow Rice on social media, he’s been teasing fans with new songs for months since topping the charts for back-to-back weeks with “Eyes on You” but never said exactly when the full package would come out. Even though this isn’t his first album, the singer-songwriter looks at this one as the beginning of his career.
“I chose to call this The Album because it’s the first thing I would encourage someone to listen to if they want to know who I am as an artist,” explains Rice in a press release. “My career has been such a rollercoaster journey, but it’s all led to this moment and these songs. So much of what I’ve learned, so much of what I’ve fought through – it’s all reflected in this music.”
When you listen to these seven songs, you truly see how much he has grown as a songwriter and an artist. Instead of singing about girls in pickup trucks, Rice’s sound has matured to something deeper and more meaningful. These seven songs are personal and paint a picture of the good times and the bad times. While his music has evolved, you still get the same gravelly-voiced vocals his fans fell in love with years ago.
The one song you’ve probably heard on your radio already is “Lonely If You Are,” the follow up to his No.1 song, “Eyes on You.” The sleek rhymes over heartland six strings and keys make this song not only catchy and relatable but extremely easy to put on repeat. Rice has been playing it in his live shows for months already and performed it last night on a very dramatic episode of The Bachelor.
“I wrote it with Lindsay Rimes and Hunter Phelps, and when you get to that bridge it’s insane live already – and I don’t think it’s even top 30 yet. When you get to that, ‘let me love the lonely right out of you,’ that’s when you know we’ve got something pretty special here,” Rice says.
“American Nights” is one of the outliers of the album, but not in a bad way. It’s one of the only songs that isn’t about a romantic love. Rice describes the song as being about diversity. “It’s about all these different people going through different things, but at the end of the day, that’s what makes us all Americans and that what makes us all so unique. So ‘American Nights,’ to me, is one of the most special songs on this whole album,” Rice explains.
Probably one of the most personal songs on this new album, “Everywhere,” Rice sings about seeing his ex-girlfriend in everything he does and everywhere he goes. He sings: “You’re in every side street, every sidewalk // Every corner booth, every corner bar // In the dark, darlin’, you’re everywhere // Woah, oh, oh, you’re everywhere”
One of the more relatable songs on the album, Rice wrote it after breaking up with a girlfriend. “It’s about a girl that I dated the last couple years. We had an amazing relationship, had a tough breakup and that’s the way it goes sometimes, but when that happens, usually you’re going to start seeing that person everywhere you go,” Rice says.
In “Best Night Ever” Rice sings about exactly what the title of the song is, the best night ever. You get a look into his word with the lyrics and how they paint a vivid image of a memorable night with his girlfriend. “I live on a farm in Tennessee and I’ve had some nights out on that farm. I’ve had some amazing nights – the sun’s going down – but every now and then, there’s a special night because there’s somebody there to make it special and that’s the case for this song, ‘Best Night Ever.’ I’ve got this old pole barn over there at the farm that, you know, the song kind of speaks for itself,” Rice says of the track.
The singer first teased this song back in November on his Instagram when he played an acoustic version of it. Watch below.
Rice describes “Messy” as one of the most emotional songs he’s put out since “Jack Daniels and Jesus.” He sings about loving every side of someone. In a relationship, even when you see each other’s messy sides, you still love each other through them. The lyrics are deep, honest and raw.
“We’ve all got messy and we’ve all got problems we deal with, but when you have someone to deal with it and help you deal with it through those problems, that’s beautiful,” Rice describes.
In one of the catchiest songs on the album, “In the Car,” Rice takes his fans back to his high school days of sneaking out with his girlfriend. It wasn’t just the thrill of not getting caught and being with your high school love though.
“In the car that night // Saturday in July // We had the radio down and you were teein’ ’em up // In the car that night // Two beautiful eyes // You weren’t even tryin’ // I was fallin’ in love // And the headlights // Met the sunrise // It was so right, oh // In the car that night // We were on fire // Couldn’t get higher // I was yours, you were mine // In the car that night”
Everyone has those songs that take them back to a high school memory and Rice does it with this song. The fun, upbeat sound with lyrics that take you back in time is the perfect mix to blast this song with your windows down.
In the final track, Rice hits it out of the park with “Forever To Go.” Expect to hear this one at weddings for years to come. The lyrics walk you through special memories of falling more and more in love yet knowing you still have a lifetime ahead of you.
“Another year down // And, baby, somehow // Our song never gets old // The honeymoon phase // And butterflies fade // But I’ll never let you go // We were just kids // Stealin’ a kiss // And it feels like forever ago // But I love you more than yesterday // We still got forever to go”
Rice predicts this song could be even bigger than “Eyes on You,” which was the No. 5 most-played country song of 2019. Expect to hear more new songs on The Album Part II later this year.
