Jake Owen Hits Number One with “Best Thing Since Backroads”

Jake Owen’s song “Best Thing Since Backroads” officially hit the number one spot on the country radio charts. Learn more here!

Jake Owen scores his tenth number one song with his current radio single, “Best Thing Since Backroads.” The monumental feat follows the consecutive hit songs, “Homemade” and “Made for You.” Owen continues to hone in on his country-beach loving sound, which is clearly resonating with his fans across the genre.

Almost a year ago to the date, the singer dropped his new number one song, “Best Thing Since Backroads.” The track is a joyous one. “Best Thing Since Backroads” compares a romance to the euphoric nature of a backroad. It was made for live performances, and it is the perfect song to jam out to on long car rides.

“You’re the best thing since back roads, baby // Pedal to the medal with the windows down // Sunshine setting on a cross that saves me // Hanging from a rearview in red dirt clouds // Two-lane heaven’s one hell of a view // But it ain’t got nothing on you”

Fans can rejoice in this new wave of music for the hitmaker. Congrats to Owen and his team on another number one at country radio!

Jake Owen Drops New Single “1×1” – Out Now

Jake Owen’s new song “1×1” is out now, April 29th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new song below.

Jake Owen is giving fans exactly what they want – more new music. He recently released “Up There Down Here,” and now following up on that debut, Owen is sharing another new single. “1×1” is officially out now.

Written by Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey, and Josh Miller, the song combines feelings of nostalgia and romance all wrapped in one. Owen is the perfect singer for this tune. He brings the summer-loving, Florida flair to the touching country song. We love when artists can find songs that seemingly feel made for them.

“Still hard to believe what you did to me // Now look what you’ve done // I’m picking you daisys, and we’re naming them babies // And counting these blessings one by one // There’s a 5X7 of us up on the wall // And that smile on your face yeah it says it all // there’s a 4X4 sitting out in the drive // Rides a whole lot better with your hand in mine”

Each verse makes you think about the beauty of romance and building a life with someone. Owen clearly knows a thing or two about that. This single is one of our favorites of Owen so far.

Jake Owen Shares New Song “Up There Down Here”

Jake Owen’s new song “Up There Down Here,” is out now, March 25th on all streaming platforms. Learn more about the brand new track here.

Jake Owen is slowly building the track list for his upcoming seventh studio album with releases such as “Drunk On a Boat,” “Fishin’ On a River,” “11 Beers,” and “Best Thing Since Backroads,” which currently sits in the top-20 on country radio. The new track, “Up There Down Here,” follows the feel-good mantra Owen has perfected over the years. Produced by longtime collaborator Joey Moi, the singer discusses how even though he may not be the prime example of a good Christian, the girl in his life makes up for it and keeps him in check. Written by Zach Dyer, Summer Overstreet, and Travis Wood, its light-hearted and catchy lyrics make it hard not to bob your head along to.

“I’m a raise a little hell, she’s heaven on earth // The grace to my grit and the rain on my dirt // I’m a little down-home, cold beer // She’s a little up there, down here”

The yet-to-be-announced project will follow Owen’s 2019 album Greetings From…Jake, which produced three chart-topping hits such as “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” “Homemade,” and most recently, “Made For You.” Owen has several tour and festival dates lined up for this spring and summer. Jake Owen Releases Brand New Song “Best Thing Since Backroads”

Jake Owen’s brand new song “Best Thing Since Backroads” is available everywhere now, August 6th. Take a look below as we dig into the song.

In his brand new song “Best Thing Since Backroads,” superstar, Jake Owen gives the ultimate, country compliment to his soulmate. The new single comes on the heels of Owen’s hit record “GREETINGS FROM… JAKE.”  The album boasted three number one songs, including “Made for You.”

“Best Thing Since Backroads” compares a romance to the euphoric nature of a backroad. An interesting concept, Owen manages to keep his southern-boy charm on the new track. “It’s always exciting releasing new music. It feels great being back out on the road and bringing happiness to people,” Owen shared in a recent press release.

“You’re the best thing since back roads, baby // Pedal to the medal with the windows down // Sunshine setting on a cross that saves me // Hanging from a rearview in red dirt clouds // Two-lane heaven’s one hell of a view // But it ain’t got nothing on you”

The new track is a joyous one. It will absolutely be a fun one to sing along to during Owen’s live shows. Fans can rejoice in this new wave of music for the hitmaker. Keep “Best Thing Since Backroads” on your radar!

Walker Hayes Collaborates with Jake Owen on New Song “Country Stuff”

Walker Hayes is joined by Jake Owen on a collaborative new track. “Country Stuff” is available everywhere you buy or stream music now, May 7th. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Walker Hayes continues to push the boundaries with his music, never relying on one set style or sound. This is one of the reasons we love him and appreciate his artistry! So far this year, the singer-songwriter has released two heartfelt songs, “Hope You Miss Me” and “Make You Cry.” Today, the singer showcases his fun side in a collaboration with Jake Owen called “Country Stuff.”

Feeling like a bop from the first lyric, the song is unlike anything Hayes has ever released before. The singer shared in an Instagram post that the song is “going to blow your dang mind… and frickin Jake Owen is still blowing my mind,” and we agree. Hayes and Owen partnering up is a unique combination we can get on board with. The new single feels like a groovy, summer jam, perfect timing for this type of song.

“I like country stuff // I sip whiskey from the handle // I got dogs named Jack and Daniel // And my favorite shirts are flannel // Me too baby // I tear up some turnip greens // Now taxidermy that’s art // Favorite movie // You serious Clark // You know I love fishing in the dark // the song, and the real thing”

Hayes has been on a roll this year pumping out new music that fans are loving. We can only hope that this means his next full-length project is in the works or touring will be coming sooner rather than later. In the meantime, the singer takes to his social media pages often to entertain his fans with his talent, his love for his family, and his fun antics.

Jake Owen’s “Made For You” Lands Him His 9th Number One Song

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jake Owen lands his ninth career number one song at country radio this week with “Made For You”.

Almost a year ago, Jake Owen’s single “Made For You” impacted country radio. The romantic love song was a hit from the start with other country musicians and fans alike. Today, the song hit the top spot on the country charts, marking Owen’s ninth #1 song of his career.

Written by Benjy Davis, Joey Hyde, and Neil Medley, the ballad is all about how love makes your life. It is one of those songs that are so special and heartfelt, making anyone who has ever experienced love feel something. “Made For You” is the fourth radio single off Owen’s latest record Greetings From… Jake. The song is clearly tailor-made for wedding season, and now is the perfect time for the song to peak.

“Early curfews are made for sneakin’ past // Two AM was made for pissed off dads // And I was made for you, yeah I was made for you // like a ship without a sea // Or a song without a melody // I don’t know where I’d be or what I’d do // ‘Cause I was made for you”

Owen has been rather quiet this year, but it’s clear the singer is getting ready to release more music and a new project sooner rather than later. We are excited for what’s next for Owen. Until then, congrats to Jake Owen and his team for another smash hit with “Made For You!”

NY’s Country 94.7 Event with Carly Pearce, Michael Ray & Jake Owen

This past Friday night, New York’s Country 94.7 celebrated their first Up Close & Country of the decade with a special Radio.com event at Chelsea Music Hall. Winning your way in was the only way to catch this special performance from superstars Carly Pearce, Michael Ray, and Jake Owen.

Carly Pearce

Pearce is gearing up to release her sophomore, self-titled album next month but took the time to perform some fan favorites from her debut album, including “Doin It Right”, and “Every Little Thing”. She also performed two previously released songs including “Heart’s Going Out Of Its Mind” and her current single, a duet with Lee Brice, “Hope Your Happy Now”. The former, Pearce explained that she wrote just a few days after her first date with Michael Ray and she told her cowriters that she was “totally going to marry him”.  The latter is currently climbing up the country radio charts and fans were singing along with the songstress.

Michael Ray

It was such a treat for fans to get to see the newlyweds on the same bill. Michael Ray took the stage next, so grateful for the chance to perform during this special night thanks to the radio station and thanked each member of their team. Ray who has a ton of hits in his career so far sang “Kiss You In The Morning”, and his number one song, “One That Got Away”. He also welcomed his beautiful wife back to the stage for a stirring duet of Alison Krauss’ “When You Say Nothing At All”. Watching their chemistry on stage was spectacular. His current single, “Her World Or Mine” had the audience singing along as he emoted true heartbreak.

Michael Ray Carly Pearce

Finally, Jake Owen took the stage to perform some of his biggest songs, including the past decade’s most-played country song “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”.  Owen took time out during his set to talk to the small group of fans, ask them what they wanted to hear and even sang “Happy Birthday” to one lucky audience member. He threw it back to one of his earlier albums with “Alone With You”, and “The One That Got Away”. He also performed a few songs from his most recent album, “Down To The Honky Tonk”, “Drink All Day”, and his current single “Home Made” which he explained was written about his grandparents who are 97 and 95 years old and have been married for 72 years.

Owen even performed the impromptu song he wrote after watching The Bachelor “Alabama Hannah” which went viral on social media after he posted it. His energy, honesty when explaining each song and his banter with the audience made for a great night and the perfect way to kick off the radio station’s events for 2020.

The Best Advice We’ve Learned From Country Songs

Lee Brice

We all love a good tailgating song, an empowering break-up anthem or a heartbreaking ballad, but the songs we listen to over and over again are the ones that pull at our heartstrings; those songs that simply teach us life lessons. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of ten times a country song gave us the best advice.

1. It is most important to be a good person.

Tim McGraw’s iconic song “Humble And Kind” is the perfect reminder to mind our manners, but more importantly to have empathy for others. It is a straightforward message from one of country music’s greatest artists to be a good person. “Hold the door say please say thank you / Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie / I know you got mountains to climb but / Always stay humble and kind.”

2. It’s the little things in life that mean the most.

This line is not only a lyric to Zac Brown Band’s hit, “Chicken Fried,” but also great advice. Zac Brown Band reminds us in this song to not sweat the small stuff and to cherish the little things like a “Cold beer on a Friday night / A pair of jeans that fit just right / And the radio up.”

3. Your loved ones are always with you, no matter what you believe.

In “The Journey of Your Life,” Jake Owen reminds us to look to whatever we find strength in to get through the ups and downs that life throws at us.“And no matter what dreams you’re chasing / Never get above your raising / And may the simple things be amazing / On the journey of your life”

4. Know your worth.

Earlier this year, Maren Morris delivered a girl power anthem in the most vulnerable way with her song “GIRL.” The title track encouraged women (and men) to value themselves, while still empowering others at the same time. “Girl, don’t you hang your head low / Don’t you lose your halo / Everyone’s gonna be okay.”

5. We can always go back home.

Chase Rice honors his North Carolina roots in “Carolina Can,” discussing how when he needs to humble himself and remember his upbringing, he can always go home to the town and people that raised him. We can do the same. It’s awesome to experience life in a new place, but home will always remind us of who we are. “Now that six string dream on a crazy course / Has got my compass losing North / And I need someone to remind me who I am / Oh, Carolina can.”

6. Stay in the moment.

We are all guilty of getting too caught up in future plans or reminiscing about the past, that we forget to stay present. The truth is, time goes fast and we’re never promised tomorrow. This is why it is so important to be present and really take in each and every moment, as Trace Adkins tells us in “You’re Gonna Miss This” “You’re gonna miss this / You’re gonna want this back / You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast / These are some good times / So take a good look around.”

7. Work hard, play hard.

The ever talented country duo, Brooks & Dunn just remastered some of their most popular hit songs, including “Hard Workin’ Man,” with Brothers Osborne. No matter what version you love, the men keep reminding us that it’s both important to play hard, “Come Friday night, I like to party hard,” but still work hard, “Come Monday mornin’ I’m the first to arrive / I ain’t nothin’ but business from nine till five / I’m a hard, hard workin man.”

8. Sometimes you need a drink (or five).

Drinking may not be your vice, but really this piece of advice encourages us to let loose and have some fun, regardless of what that means to us. Sometimes we need a little escape from reality and just need to have a good time. Eric Church reminds us to do just that in “Smoke A Little Smoke.” “Act like tomorrow’s ten years away / And just kick back and let the feelin’ flow / Drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke, yeah.”

9. Everything gets better, so don’t give up.

There’s a ton of country artists that encourage us to never give up, even during trying times, but Rodney Atkins manages to uplift us like no other in “If You’re Going Through Hell.” “If you’re going through Hell / Keep on going, don’t slow down / If you’re scared don’t show it / You might get out / Before the devil even know you’re there.”

10. Love like crazy.

Leave it to Lee Brice to sing one of the most profound and relatable choruses. “Love Like Crazy” reminds us all to love, even when it might be hard. “Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse I love you / Go to work, do your best, don’t outsmart your common sense / Never let your prayin’ knees get lazy / And love like crazy.”

Bonus: Chase your dreams.

Here at New York Country Swag, we encourage you to go after your dreams, just like some of our favorite artists do each and every day through their music careers and just like we’re doing with NYCS.

We pride ourselves on championing rising artists, such as Mitchell Tenpenny, Brandon Ratcliff, Abby Anderson, and Jimmie Allen, but what they all have in common is they’re chasing their dreams, no matter what the sacrifice.

Take a listen to the complete playlist below, while you crush your goals and follow your dreams, wherever they may lead you.
