Jon Langston Premieres Brand New Song “Try Missing You”

Jon Langston’s new song “Try Missing You” is available now, July 9th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Just last week, entertainer Jon Langston teamed up with newcomer Noah Hicks and fellow singer-songwriter Travis Denning on “Drinkin’ in a College Town.” Now, Langston showcases another side of his talent. Fans have been waiting for his newest release for years. After teasing the track at live shows and on social media, the singer finally officially premiered his heartfelt song “Try Missing You” today.

Co-written by Langston with Jody Stevens, “Try Missing You” is a song that the artist leaked over two years ago. Back in March of 2019, Langston shared a one-minute sneak peek of the song, as an acoustic performance on his YouTube page. The song showcases the singer’s vocal abilities and equally spotlights his songwriter prowess.

“Well if it weren’t for you hunny, I wouldn’t have a song to sing // I don’t know where I’m going to be tomorrow // Truth is I’m a little lost right now // The smoke and whiskey, it don’t fix me like you always do // If you think you’re missing me // Try missing you”

A love song at its core, the track is a thank you to his significant other for being there for him, as he tries to pursue this dream. It is often difficult to be a touring musician and be in a relationship. This song expresses what it’s like to be on the road and missing your lover.

Despite the fact that we are not all artists, the song is as relatable as it gets. Anyone who has ever been in love knows how it feels to experience your heart aching for your lover when they are not with you. “Try Missing You” might be one of Langston’s most vulnerable and best songs to date!

Noah Hicks Teams Up with Travis Denning and Jon Langston on New Jam

Noah Hicks joins forces with Travis Denning and Jon Langston on brand new song, “Drinkin’ in a College Town”. Available now, July 2nd, on all streaming platforms, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new song.

Recent Swag Spotlight artist, Noah Hicks joins forces with fellow rising stars Jon Langston and Travis Denning on a brand new song, “Drinkin’ in a College Town”. The song follows Hicks’ debut track and recent release, “No More Of ‘Em”, another collaborative track with Rhett Akins.

Written by Hicks along with Cole Taylor, Jeremy Stover, and Paul DiGiovanni, “Drinkin’ in a College Town” is an instant jam. The upbeat track perfectly blends the sounds from each of these country artists and it’s one you’ll want to blast at your tailgates all summer long.

“Like we’re sitting on a tailgate // parking lot on game day // waiting on them boys to play // show em how we do it down here // like we just turned 21 // spring break Panama city sun // a Ford key and a shotgun // holdin up a can of beer // If we’re gonna drink tonight // let’s drink em like // we’re drinkin’ in a college town”

Jon Langston Puts A Fun Twist on “Happy Ever After”

Rising country singer-songwriter, Jon Langston released a new song, “Happy Ever After,” available now, October 30th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

The term “happily ever after” is most commonly used at the end of a story when two people fall in love and get married. However, the songwriters, Langston, Blake Bollinger, and Brent Anderson, mislead the listener and use the fun, play on words to explain a man’s new feelings about his past relationship. Back in February, Langston released “Drinks,” a song that describes a scenario where the guy is taking the breakup much harder than the girl.

Now, almost eight months later, the man is finally back on his feet. Although he has not made a full-time commitment to that special someone like in the fairy tales, he learns from his buddies and other good-looking women at the bar that he is “happy ever after her.” The steel guitar and Langston’s raspy, southern vocals make this an enjoyable, drinking tune with a classic-country twist.

“I never thought I’d be this better off / Throwing back these double black label shots / in a honky-tonk heaven on earth / Here’s to happy ever after…her”

Although Langston co-wrote this song, it certainly does not represent Langston’s current situation, as he and his girlfriend welcomed their first child, Magnolia Mae to the world over the weekend. A big congratulations to the new parents!

[Listen] Jon Langston Unleashes New Single “Drinks”

Jon Langston Drinks

Georgia-native Jon Langston unleashed his latest single “Drinks” today following his previous EP Now You Know released this past October. Written by Langston, Jared Mullins, and Matt Alderman, this song made its debut about a year ago during Langston’s live sets and finally made its official debut. The 32 Bridge Entertainment artist shared in a press release, I’ve been wanting this song to be out for a long time. We’ve been playing it live this past year and the fans are ready for it too! I’m really excited for the world to hear this one.”

This song illustrates the process of going through heartbreak and post-breakup feelings. Both parties of pain are described and it isn’t always the same for each side, and that is shown. She is going out, getting back to her usual amusements while he is hurting like hell. He sings: “She’s getting drinks // She’s going out // Out with her friends // I bet right now // She’s had 3 or 4 // Raisin’ Hell, looking like heaven on the dance floor, oh // She might leave alone // She might fall in love // Either way, she ain’t thinking bout us // She’s getting drinks // And I’m getting drunk”

Langston is heading out on the road supporting Morgan Wallen’s Whiskey Glasses Roadshow Tour starting today, February 7th, in Columbus, Ohio. For more about the singer-songwriter check out our most recent Swag Spotlight with him from September.

“Drinks” Full Lyrics

She opens up that getting ready bottle of red
Cuts the overprice tags off that little black dress
Its been a while since she felt like
Doing what she’s gonna do tonight

She’s getting drinks
She’s going out
Out with her friends
I bet right now
She’s had 3 or 4
Raisin’ hell looking like heaven on the dance floor, oh
She might leave alone
She might fall in love
Even when she ain’t thinking bout us
She’s getting drinks
And I’m getting drunk

She’s hitting the town right now it’s hitting me hard
She’s getting down and I’m down in this bar
Workin’ on the whiskey but the whiskey don’t work
It’s killing me that it ain’t killing her

She’s getting drinks
She’s going out
Out with her friends
I bet right now
She’s had 3 or 4
Raisin’ hell looking like heaven on the dance floor, oh
She might leave alone
She might fall in love
Even when she ain’t thinking bout us
She’s getting drinks
And I’m getting drunk…

We both got a buzz but for different reasons
She’s all right and I’m on the left side of leaving

She’s getting drinks
She’s going out
Out with her friends
I bet right now
She’s had 3 or 4
Raisin’ hell looking like heaven on the dance floor
She might leave alone
She might fall in love
Even when she ain’t thinking bout us
She’s getting drinks
And I’m getting drunk
And I’m getting drunk

NYCS Swag Spotlight Update: Jon Langston

Jon Langston

Earlier this year we interviewed Jon Langston to find out more about his backstory and how he made his way to Nashville. Check out our original Swag Spotlight by clicking here. More recently, we caught up with the “Now You Know” singer to chat about how things have changed for him in 2019 and his incredible run on Luke Bryan’s ‘Sunset Repeat Tour’.

The Georgia native who fell in love with Alan Jackson and country music when he was young, was immersed in the football way of life from a young age, playing in college and hoping to continue to play long after that. Unfortunately, when he was forced to hang up his football pads because of injuries, Langston decided to pick up a guitar to help him process through that time in his life. “Writing songs and music helped me get through that tough time, and it was like a therapy to me, little did I know it was going to become a career and a passion that I love,” he tells us.

Starting in May, Langston had the great opportunity of opening for Cole Swindell and Luke Bryan on the ‘Sunset Repeat’ Tour across the country in 30+ venues. “It’s amazing to go out every single night on this tour and see the amazing country fans out there, I am singing a few of my songs and I am seeing people singing and dancing to my songs,” he tells us. “Being in front of that big of a crowd, that’s new to me and it’s fun to learn how to, engage with a crowd that may not know all of your songs and have fun with it.”  He also explains how important it was to be able to sit side stage each night and not only watch the way Luke Bryan engages with his crowd but also works with his band and the crew. Bryan becoming a great mentor for the rising country artist. “I’m very lucky, very blessed and very thankful to be apart of this, I never thought I would be here, I remember being front row and watching Luke Bryan and now I am on the stage with him”.

We caught the tour twice when it came to Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater back in July. Check out our full recap of the weekend here.

His latest release, “Now You Know” was penned along with Brock Berryhill and Brad Clawson and it was the first time the three of them were together in a writing room. “We wanted just a fun, lifestyle song that just kind of painted the picture, of kind of the fun of who we are, small town guys who just like to have a cold beer on a Friday night, just to paint that picture in a rockin’ song.” He explains that the song itself was written quickly because all they had to do was list the things they liked to do. “I would look around during that song and everyone is united and raising their glasses, kind of saying, we are all here, we are all the same and it’s such a cool moment during that song”. The track which is guitar-heavy, Langston laughs plays much better to a big crowd in an arena and is geared towards those live moments rather than an intimate set in a bar somewhere.

As the Sunset Repeat tour finishes up, the last date being October 12th in Raleigh, NC, Langston has zero plans of slowing down or taking any breaks. His own headlining pub fall tour, The Bird Dog Tour which kicked off with a sold out show in Nashville will continue throughout November. Full list of tour dates available at jonlangston.com.

Fans can also look forward to a brand new EP titled, Now You Know from the singer-songwriter on October 25th.

Luke Bryan’s ‘Sunset Repeat’ Tour Hits Long Island, NY For Two Shows

Luke Bryan Jones Beach

Luke Bryan’s Sunset Repeat Tour stopped in Long Island this past weekend to play two shows at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater. Night one he brought along two Georgia natives, Jon Langston, and Cole Swindell and last night Dylan Scott took the direct support spot.  Not only did NYCountry Swag offer an exclusive ticket presale to our followers, but we also organized a huge tailgate and bus to the venue for the Sunday Night show. Bringing over 100 New York country fans together to enjoy music, food, and drinking games before heading inside to experience the Sunset Repeat Tour from the best seats in the house, right in the pit.

Jon Langston opened his half-hour set with his newest release “Now You Know”; a country song with a rock and roll feel. He performed nine songs for the audience including “Right Girl, Wrong Time”, “Dance Tonight”, “Prob’ly at a Bar”, “Forever Girl”, even a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ hit “Won’t Back Down”. He closed with another country-rock song “All Eyes On Us”. Before exiting the stage, the former college football player shot-gunned a beer in about three seconds, signed t-shirts and took selfies with fans. Langston opened up Sunday’s show as well.

Next up was the 2015 ACM New Artist of the Year, Cole Swindell. He began the show with two songs from his latest album All Of It, “Love You Too Late” and “Sounded Good Last Night” then went back to his self-titled first album with songs “Lonely Tonight” and “Hey Y’all”.  Right as the fans were getting energized, Swindell changed the mood of the show with slower songs such as “Middle of a Memory” and “Break Up in the End”. The fans didn’t seem to mind it as they were singing along the whole way through.

If you recall, a few months ago a third-grade teacher, Courtney wrote on social media about a hilarious moment she shared with her students about Cole Swindell and NYCountry Swag arranged for her to finally meet her favorite country artist and tickets to the show on Saturday. Read more about that here.

“Nothing helps me get over a break up better than a party, drinking song”, Swindell admitted before performing a combination of three of his drinking songs, “Brought to You by Beer” from the first album, “No Can Left Behind” from his second album You Should Be Here and “Reason to Drink” from All Of It. These songs provided a good segway into his next and newest song “Drinkin’ Hours”, which he just released on June 21st.

“Make sure y’all appreciate who you still have here tonight,” Swindell said after performing his second number-one single “You Should Be Here”. The track was written in honor of his father, who unexpectedly passed away back in 2013.  The crowd grew even louder when Swindell rattled off three of his biggest hits, “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey”, “Let Me See Ya Girl” and his first number one single “Chillin’ It”.

This was not the first time Swindell played Jones Beach Theater. He opened for Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour in 2016 and Dierks Bentley on his What The Hell Tour. “You guys have had my back since the first time I played this venue so thank y’all”, Swindell praised the boisterous crowd.

Swindell covered shortened versions of “Old Town Road” and “This Is How We Roll”, a song he co-wrote with Florida Georgia Line. He then exited the stage for a few minutes before the fans heard sounds of a heart monitor getting faster and faster; we knew what song was coming next. Swindell closed his set with “Flatliner”, leaving the crowd with the right energy as they await the headliner, Luke Bryan.

Sunset Repeat Tour

Swindell and Bryan have a long history together. They met when Bryan performed a show at Swindell’s Sigma Chi fraternity house at Georgia Southern University, the same school and same frat Bryan was in back in his college days. They stayed in touch and when Swindell graduated college, he went on tour with Bryan, not performing but selling merchandise and writing songs for him. Swindell wrote or co-wrote songs such as “The Sand I Brought to the Beach”, “Beer in the Headlights”, “Roller Coaster” and many more. He opened for Bryan back in 2014 on his That’s My Kind of Night Tour. Swindell, however, did not perform Sunday night as he was in Chicago playing the Windy City Smokeout with Chris Young, LANCO,  Eli Young Band, Ashley McBryde, Jordan Davis, Devin Dawson, and Old Dominion.

It was finally time for Luke Bryan, who came out driving an ATV and performed “What Makes You Country” and “Huntin’, Fishin’, Lovin’ Everyday” standing on top of it. He kept the party going with two singles from Kill The Lights “Kick the Dust Up” and “Move”. Bryan then grabbed an electric guitar and shredded “I See You” from his 2013 album Crash My Party.

“These next two songs are for you, Jones Beach”, Bryan shouted before performing two beach songs in “Roller Coaster” and “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset, Repeat”.  Bryan then took a break to give shout-outs to DJ Rock, Jon Langston and Cole Swindell for keeping everyone entertained. “We got two nights in a row here so that means we can party tonight, get about three hours of sleep, wake up and then do this s**t all over again.” Bryan also mentioned that it is his birthday week so he took another shot of tequila. “Here’s to the coolest, one of the most unique venues in all of North America, right here!” he yelled before doing the shot. “Thank you so much for making two nights happen!”

Before playing “Most People Are Good” he joked about how much he loves drunk mothers but then got serious and said, “mothers are the true saints in this world and if they all qualify for sainthood then they aren’t good people they’re the best people”.

Sandwiched between his first single “Do I” and his newest single “Knockin’ Boots” was “Rain is a Good Thing”. This was a good representation of how Bryan’s career progressed. After “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” and “Crash My Party” the crew wheeled out the piano which caused an uproar of the fans; “Drink a Beer”, a fan favorite, and “Strip it Down” were next. Fans took out their phones and held up their flashlight as Bryan performed a beautiful rendition of his sad ballad on the piano. Giving the fans a quick insight into next Saturday’s Jones Beach concert, Morgan Wallen surprised the audience on Sunday night when he came out to perform his most recent number one hit, “Whiskey Glasses”. Wallen will perform alongside Dan + Shay, HARDY and headliners Florida Georgia Line on their ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour’ hitting the beach July 20th.  Bryan also invited the openers back to the stage later on in the night to sing a group version of David Lee Murphy’s “Dust On The Bottle”.

The superstar performed “Drunk On You”, “I Don’t Want This Night To End”, “Play It Again” and “That’s My Kind of Night” before walking off the stage. However, fans knew an encore was coming as the 2016 Billboard Top Country Artist was yet to play his smash hit “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”. When he came back out, he gave the fans what they wanted; singing and moving his hips to the catchy, country track. To the surprise of the fans, Bryan came back and performed a song that was not his. He ended his set with a cover of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”. An unexpected but brilliant ending to an incredible night at Jones Beach.

Bryan will take Swindell, Langston and the Sunset Repeat Tour to Alabama next weekend but will be back in the New York area on September 7th at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts September 12th.

We want to send a big thank you to everybody who purchased tickets during our presale and joined us for our tailgate party! We’ll see ya at the next show.

Keep up with Bryan and the ‘Sunset Repeat Tour’ by following him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
