Mason Ramsey & Friends Entertains Fans in New York City

This past Thursday night, Mason Ramsey brought his rodeo to lower a Manhattan venue, Gramercy Theatre, with special guests Jenna Paulette and ERNEST. While only 12 years old, Ramsey held the room in the palm of his hand, singing a variety of originals and covers while showcasing his yodeling and dancing skills for the crowd. Penned Lil Hank Williams, he certainly lived up to his nickname.

Jenna Paulette Mason Ramsey

First up was rising Texan singer/songwriter Jenna Paulette, a long-time member of writers circle Song Suffragettes in Nashville. When the lights were dimmed, the crowd went wild as Paulette walked out, clad in a fringe skirt and cowboy hat. She opened her set with “Wild Like the West,” an upbeat song about her wild personality. When Paulette played current single “Blue Jeans”, the crowd was hooked. “This is my first time playing a show in New York City,” she said, to which the crowd cheered. She closed with hit “F-150”, and asked the crowd to send a “yeehaw” back to Mason Ramsey before leaving the stage. To learn more about the Texas native check out our Swag Spotlight from earlier this year.

Next was songwriter-turned-artist ERNEST. Performing with just his guitar, ERNEST stole the show, performing a slew of hits recorded by artists such as Morgan Wallen and Chris Lane, as well as new songs on his debut EP, Locals Only, released this past Friday, October 11th. “This is what helped me sign my first publishing deal,” he said before playing his catchy hook “Blacked Out”. He sang it another time after free-styling to the word “mullet” at a suggestion by a fan. After singing “Sugar”, a fan shouted, “Play ‘Blacked Out’ again!” He laughed and responded, “Y’all don’t wanna ruin the present now, do you? It’s coming,” And with that, he closed his set to a deafening sing-along of “Blacked Out”. His music is perfect for fans of Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen.

Mason Ramsey

When the lights flickered on and off, signaling that Mason Ramsey was about to enter the room, people started excitedly running to the front of the stage, chanting, “Mason, Mason, Mason”. He followed his band out, singing and shredding the guitar like it was nobody’s business. He opened with his original song, “The Way I See It”, and the audience knew every word. “So… I’m happy to be in New York. Tour’s fun… except for that one incident I had on my bike, I crashed,” Ramsey told the crowd, laughing and cheering. “Now we’re gonna go a little classic,” Ramsey said. “Let’s take it back with ‘Ring of Fire’ by Johnny Cash.” The crowd was thrilled to hear it, screaming the words back to him as he made his way to the front of the stage, hi-fiving fans. Following his Cash cover, he played four Hank Williams covers, which included, “Jambalaya”, “Hey Good Lookin” and “Your Cheatin Heart”.

“It’s a true story,” Ramsey laughed, telling the crowd. “My grandma needed towels at Walmart, and I decided, in this weird little aisle, like Aisle #12 or something like that, to sing a couple of songs, and then a circle started forming around me. And after that, there was this lady who said, ‘Can you sing me a special song?’ And she recorded it. And that song goes like this,” he said, nodding to the band who started up the song that started it all, Hank Williams’ “Lonesome Blues”.

Mason Ramsey

After singing an unreleased song, “Gone”, Ramsey surprised the crowd with his verse of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”. For his two encores, Ramsey brought out ERNEST to sing “Twang” and Jenna Paulette to sing “Famous”, closing the show to the entire venue singing both songs at the top of their lungs. Ramsey, ERNEST, and Paulette all seemed to be so thrilled to be on stage together, soaking in every moment.

It’s not every day a 12-year-old embarks on a headlining tour with a stop in New York City. After success on social media, it was incredibly impressive to see how dedicated his fanbase is and how truly talented he is. This show had something for everyone – if you can, make sure to catch the HOW’S UR GIRL & HOW’S UR FAMILY PT. 2 Tour. Additional dates at www.masonramseyofficial.com

NYCS First Impression: Mason Ramsey Twang EP

Mason Ramsey Twang

At only 12 years old, rising country music star Mason Ramsey has just released his newest EP Twang today, July 26th. Remember the video of Ramsey yodeling in Walmart that went viral over a year ago making him an instant social media sensation and immediately immersing him into the country music industry? Well, over a year later, Twang is strongly believed to mirror the mass success of Famous, his widely received first music release.

The 5-song EP kicks off with its title track, “Twang”, an instant fan favorite, all about loving someone for their country roots. “She likes these boots with these blue jeans, she likes my cowboy hat, but she loves me for my twang”, he sings. The music video for “Twang” (below) was released just over a month ago to YouTube and currently has over 5 million views which should only continue to increase with his new music.

Following “Twang”, other songs on this EP include “Puddle of Love”, “How Could I Not”, “On My Way”, and “Before I Knew It”. The release of this EP could not come at a more perfect time for Ramsey in the wake of his show-stopping feature on the remix of Lil Nas X’s much talked about single “Old Town Road” exceeding over 20 million streams globally and catapulting him to Twitter’s #1 Worldwide Trending Topic.

What many don’t know about Ramsey that is just as impressive as his unrivaled vocals and star power at such a young age is that with the release of Twang, he is credited as a co-writer for the first time, something that is almost unheard of for 12-year-olds.

TWANG EP Track List:
1. Twang  (Brian Kelley, Jordan Schmidt, Hunter Phelps, Ernest K. Smith)
2. Puddle of Love  (Mason Ramsey, Tyler Hubbard, Corey Crowder)
3. How Could I Not  (Corey Crowder, Ernest K. Smith, Brian Kelley, James McNair)
4. On My Way  (Emily Shackelton, Alex Kline, Tenille Townes)
5. Before I Knew It  (Tyler Hubbard, Jon Pardi, Corey Crowder)

Mason Ramsey Brings the “Twang” In His New Single

Mason Ramsey Twang

Twelve-year-old Mason Ramsey, otherwise known as the Yodeling WalMart Kid and Lil’ Hank Williams, released his new single, “Twang” and the music video that goes along with it last Friday (6/15). Ramsey sings about everything his girl loves about him, especially his southern twang.

“She loves me for my twang / Reminds her of a little Hank / When she hears me on the radio / She knows that it’s me by the way I sang”

You can watch the whole video below!

Ramsey gets in trouble at school and is literally dragged to the principal’s office. When Principal Jackson leaves the room, Ramsey takes the mic and sings to his crush over the loudspeaker. Upon hearing the song, she runs out of the room to pull the fire alarm, so the two youngsters can be together.

This song is the follow-up to Ramsey’s six-track, 2018 EP, Famous. Three of the six songs are Hank Williams covers [“Lovesick Blues”, “I Saw the Light” and “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)”] and three are original songs including his first single “Famous” that peaked on the US Hot Country Songs chart at number four.

Ramsey, born and raised in Golconda, Illinois, found the spotlight when the video of him yodeling at WalMart became an internet sensation. In April of 2018, he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records and Nashville-based label Big Loud. Ramsey has supported multi-platinum duo Florida Georgia Line during their Live From Las Vegas residency. After completing his first sold-out headline tour this past spring, Ramsey will hit the road later this year for the fall leg of his headlining “How’s Ur Girl & How’s Ur Family Pt. 2” Tour. New Yorkers can catch Ramsey at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan on Thursday, October 10th.

Chris Lane Sells Out First NYC Headlining Show & Is Surprised On Stage

For a cold, wet Thursday night, country fans completely packed Irving Plaza to the gills to watch Gabby Barrett, Mason Ramsey, and Chris Lane play their first New York City show.  Fans arrived early, catching the American Idol second runner-up and east coast native Gabby Barrett in her opening set.  Next up, yodeling sensation and pre-teen Mason Ramsey took the stage to absolutely deafening screams.  This little cowboy has stolen the hearts of people across the country and it was obvious from the moment he walked on stage wearing a western fringe shirt that New York City had fallen in love with his innocent charm as well.

Playing songs from his debut EP including, “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” and “Lovesick Blues” this small singer packed his set with traditional country music and the fans were loving every second of it.  His dance moves, tossing his cowboy hat and tipping his hat to thank the crowd was all a part of his set, he even held up a water bottle to ‘cheers’ with the audience.  They don’t call this pint-sized star ‘Lil Hank Williams’ for no reason, he brings the legend’s songs into 2018 and New York City fans who probably haven’t heard the original versions of these songs have now taken a liking to the traditional country vibe. He closed with “Famous” his debut radio single and there were points during the chorus when the crowd’s singing along drowned out the band.  Whether he was picking along on his guitar or stomping his feet, Ramsey’s set was accepted and brought a wonderful cheer to the entire room.

The ‘Laps Around the Sun Tour’ headliner, Chris Lane is the perfect act for a New York City crowd, he brings undeniable swagger and modern country to fans who love him for his original music as well as his energetic stage presence. Commercially, Lane has had success on country radio and he sang all of those songs during his 90minute set including “Fix”, “Broken Windshield View” and his country version of Mario’s “Let Me Love You”.  From the opening lines of the very first song in his set, the fans from the front row to the back of Irving Plaza were singing along, an incredible moment not only for the artist but for his entire team standing in the balcony.

Engaging with the crowd, even bringing two girls on stage to serenade “For Her” and his latest single “I Don’t Know About You”, they both were genuinely surprised to be plucked from the stage and clearly enjoyed every minute of the special moment. Before ending the latter, Lane asked the audience to help belt out the chorus one last time, which prompted one of the loudest sing-alongs we have heard in New York City. Check out our exclusive video of the chilling moment below.

Just like Ramsey, Lane took a moment of his set to bring his favorite traditional country songs into the mix, wearing a black cowboy hat, singing a medley of 90’s favorites like “Chattahoochee”, “Friends in Low Places”, “Check Yes or No” and others that would make the country greats proud.

Surprising the ACM New Male Vocalist Nominee on stage, his team from his record label Big Loud Records and his publicists from Sweet Talk PR walked on the stage in the middle of his set, saying ” I never have interrupted your show right?, well we are out here for a very, very special reason and New York, just for you tonight we are here to tell Chris Lane that the very next song you are about to sing, “Take Back Home Girl” has been certified platinum!”  With a shocked look on his face, Lane gratefully held up his new plaque hugging each and every member of his team while the audience cheered along. “I’m literally at a loss for words, thank you guys so much for how hard you work each and every day to make sure that this happens, and it takes a whole team of everybody, even country radio, I love you guys, thank you so much for believing in me,” he humbly stated.  “To the fans, thank you so much for this, I love you guys”.

He then welcomed Gabby Barrett back to the stage to sing Tori Kelly’s part on his now certified platinum single “Take Back Home Girl”. The duet was the perfect ending to the night, as Lane and Barrett stepped off the stage the crowd was left wanting more and will look forward to the next time he rolls through town.

[Watch] Mason Ramsey’s Adorable Video for “White Christmas”

While Mason Ramsey may be best known as the kid who yodeled in Walmart, the twelve-year-old country star is putting a new spin on a Christmas classic. While you’ve heard Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” before, it’s safe to say you haven’t heard it like this.

In the video directed by Shaun Silva, Ramsey performs his new take on the Bing Crosby classic, while a group of his peers dance along. He’s dressed in red festive fringe and appearing in an auditorium with halls that have been thoroughly decked. Believe us when we say that it’s all kinds of adorable.

As for why Ramsey chose to re-record the classic? “’White Christmas’ is the best holiday song and I’ve grown up listening to Michael Bublé’s version with Shania Twain,” Ramsey said in a press release. “It’s also a song in Home Alone too — my favorite movie to watch at Christmas!”

Ramsey also took the stage at The Ellen Show to perform his new version of the Christmas classic, where he also revealed that he has a crush on Stranger Things star, Millie Bobbie Brown.

Watch the performance below:

Ramsey will perform his new holiday single on NBC’s TODAY on December 13th and is currently appearing alongside Florida Georgia Line during their Las Vegas Residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Next week, also on the 13th, Ramsey will hit the stage at New York City’s Irving Plaza, opening for Chris Lane as part of his Laps Around the Sun Tour.  Grab your tickets here and we’ll see you at the show!

Mason Ramsey Performs at Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17

Some may call it an overnight success, but after going viral on the internet for yodeling in Walmart, 11-year old Mason Ramsey has had quite a few exciting months.  He stopped by Nash FM 94.7’s Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17 last week to charm the studio audience and DJ Jesse Addy with his quick wit, adorable smile and exceptional singing voice.

Mason Ramsey Nash FM

Ramsey, dressed in jeans, boots a slick button-down shirt and of course his giant cowboy hat took the stage and talked with Jesse Addy before playing his two singles “Lovesick Blues” and “Famous”.  In typical 11-year old fashion, he was playing basketball out in the hallway and when Addy asked if he won he replied: “Well, I kept on dunking”.  His innocent nature and a tip of the hat in gratitude after each song, he left the audience smiling and feeling great.  Check out the full Facebook Live below.
