Caitlyn Smith and Old Dominion Duet on “I Can’t” from Deluxe Album

Caitlyn Smith and Old Dominion teamed up for a duet on a reimagined version of “I Can’t” from Smith’s Supernova deluxe album.

Back in March, Caitlyn Smith released her sophomore album Supernova at the forefront of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all obstacles of the unprecedented times and the lack of balance felt throughout the world, Smith’s album soared high and well. With praise from practically every media platform and the collection itself reaching #1 on the Apple Music Singer/Songwriter Album Chart, the songstress is back on the airwaves with a deluxe edition to Supernova.

The former solo vocal production of “I Can’t” is now joined and rediscovered through a partnership with Old Dominion, dubbing the duet the group’s first-ever collaboration track.

Smith’s rendition of “I Can’t” fulfills the powerhouse artistry and high-esteemed singer-songwriter category. The lyrics are emotional and unrevealing, while the balance of strength and helplessness keeps the listener engaged through the efforts of interpretation. Though the story behind the lyrics is unclear, the portrayed aftermath holds a significant delicacy that is just as metaphysical to describe. Simply put, “I Can’t” intoxicates the listener well enough to put on a loop.

With Old Dominion reintroducing the track as a collaboration, the auditory motion picture that Smith initially executed is given a new layer of weight and substance. Matthew Ramsey, who acts as the male lead vocalist, offers an entirely additional perspective and personality by assuming the role of the previously considered intangible figure who is mentioned through lyric.

“All the time and the whiskey I’ve wasted / That I ain’t ever getting back / And I’ve tried to find the courage just to face it / But I can’t, I can’t / And I’m tired of you feeling like a stranger / Over and over again / Oh, when everything around me keeps changing / But I can’t, I can’t, I can’t”

This rendition of Smith’s “I Can’t” with Old Dominion is not merely a collaboration. It’s an incredibly skilled and transformative duet that successfully moves like a ballad or an intense yet vulnerable contemporary dance of words. A prominent hardcore and interactive duet that compliments the originally noteworthy, sentimental, and mentally exclusive solo vocal production.

Supernova, the deluxe album, also includes a cover of “Fix You” which Smith released exclusively as an Amazon Original back in May.

Underwood, Combs, Church, Bryan, & Rhett to Open ACM Awards Show

Exclusively announced with Billboard earlier today, the 55th Annual ACM Awards unveiled what will be an epic start to the special show. 2020 Entertainer of the Year nominees Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, and Luke Bryan, will come together to perform a medley of their greatest hits.

Additionally, the awards show announced the winners of a few early awards. Thomas Rhett takes home the award for Video of the Year with his smash hit, “Remember You Young”. While Miranda Lambert earned the award for Music Event of the Year for her collaboration on “Fooled Around and Fell In Love” along with female powerhouses Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, Caylee Hammack, and Elle King. Hit songwriter, Hillary Lindsey received the award for Songwriter of the Year.

Previously, the awards show also confirmed the winners of the New Female and New Male Artists of the Year. Tenille Townes and Riley Green earned the accolades, and will each perform during the special show.

The rescheduled 55th annual awards show will air this Wednesday, September 16th on CBS at 8PM ET.  Hosted by superstar Keith Urban, this time performances will take place at multiple iconic venues across Nashville, including the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe. Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, and Hillary Lindsey Take Home Early ACM Awards

Ahead of the 55th Annual ACM Awards set to take place this Wednesday, September 16th, three early winners were revealed.

Thomas Rhett takes home the award for Video of the Year with his smash hit, “Remember You Young”. While Miranda Lambert earned the award for Music Event of the Year for her collaboration on “Fooled Around and Fell In Love” along with female powerhouses Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, Caylee Hammack, and Elle King. Hit songwriter, Hillary Lindsey received the award for Songwriter of the Year.

2020 ACM Awards: What You Need to Know

The 55th Academy of Country Music Awards is ready to take on Nashville, for the first time in its history, this Wednesday night, September 16th, for its annual show that will honor the greats of country music.

Originally slated to take place last April in Las Vegas, it was postponed until September because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of having the award show in one location, it’ll now air with epic performances from three different historic iconic Nashville locations: the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe.

This year a new location also means a new host. Keith Urban will be hosting for the first time following in Reba McEntire’s footsteps. Urban brought home the biggest award of the show last year, the ACM Entertainer of the Year and is a 15-time ACM Award winner.

With performances by Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton featuring Gwen Stefani, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Trisha Yearwood, there is something for every country music fan.

Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and More Added to ACM Awards List of Performers

Just when we thought the upcoming 2020 ACM Awards show couldn’t get any better, even more superstar artists have been added to the epic line-up. Announced earlier this week, the show revealed that fans can also look forward to performances from Carrie Underwood, Trisha Yearwood, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

Up for Entertainer of the Year, Carrie Underwood will take the stage from the iconic Grand Ole Opry and will honor powerhouse female Opry members with a medley of hit songs from Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.  honor trailblazing female Opry members by performing a medley of songs by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.

Trisha Yearwood joins the show to perform her classic hit “I’ll Carry You Home” from her album Every Girl, while Shelton and Stefani will perform their current single “Happy Anywhere”.

Recently, in addition to the first leg of performers being announced, as well as the second leg, we also shared the news that two of our former Swag Sessions artists, Riley Green and Tenille Townes won their perspective ACM New Artists of the Year categories and will be performing at the special show.

Dan + Shay will take the stage to perform “I Should Probably Go to Bed”, Brown will sing “Worldwide Beautiful”, Wallen is set to perform “Whiskey Glasses” and Guyton will perform “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?”.

In addition, previously announced artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Maren Morris, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, and Jon Pardi will all perform from the Ryman Auditorium, while Jimmie Allen, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, and Tim McGraw will give their performances from the Bluebird Cafe. If You Like The 1975, Then You’ll Love…

Sometimes country music seems to be a hit or miss when it comes to getting friends or family to listen. Sometimes there’s a pre-assumed notion that they won’t like what you’re going to put on. “It’s too twangy” – you can already hear the words circling in your mind. But like every genre, there are influences drawn from all other genres. In this case, rock influences from all over are incorporated in the following bands’ styles. In this week’s edition of “If You Like…, Then You’ll Love…,” The 1975.

 

The 1975 is an English rock band formed in 2002 changing the mold of current rock. They just released a new record entitled Notes On A Conditional Form two weeks ago. If you love rock music, here are the top three country bands that The 1975 fans will love!

 

The Cadillac Three:

The Cadillac Three, composed of Jaren Johnston, Kelby Ray, and Neil Mason, lay between the lines of a country music band and an American southern rock band. The blend of these influences produces an assemblage of blended country rock vibes. Their latest album Country Fuzz is infused with indie rock, electric guitar vibes, and DIY rock aesthetics.

Old Dominion:

Old Dominion, covers a lot of horizons and it’s hard not to like them with their feel-good, summer-lovin’ bops. They’ve graced country radio with upbeat hits such as “Make It Sweet,” “Hotel Key,” “One Man Band,” as well as slow, emotional “Some People Do.” The 1975 rotates between upbeat songs and emotional ballads as well such as one of their singles “Somebody Else.”

LANCO:

LANCO, the calmer of the two bands above, charmed country radio with singles “Greatest Love Story” and “Born To Love You.” Excellent storytellers are their strong suit as well as The Cadillac Three and Old Dominion listed above.

Old Dominion Reveal Three Previously Unreleased Tracks

2-time CMA “Group of the Year” band Old Dominion, composed of Matt Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung, and Brad Tursi, have released new music for fans to enjoy during the duration of our quarantine period. Last week, the band debuted these three select songs via Instagram posts in the form of shared voice memos with a little tidbit of information about the song. Each song holds an extra chapter in each of the band’s albums released as a signed band and even before then. “I’m On It”: was very close to being a staple on Meat and Candy, “Can’t Get You”: a live version on Happy Endings turned studio version and “Goes Without Saying”: a cut off of an independent EP before Old Dominion was Old Dominion.

“I’m On It” was originally supposed to be on the band’s debut Meat and Candy but was cut at the very last minute as “Song For Another Time” was written. It was bumped to acquire the latter on the debut and it reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart in December of 2016 and recipient of CMT Music Group Video of the Year. So, the cut made way for success but is seeing its light now. The song opens with a muffled drum track and progresses into the full band shortly after the first verse. It’s mid-tempo and complements the drums throughout. Just when she thought he was gone, he’s “on it.”

“Can’t Get You” was previously released as a live track featured on their sophomore project Happy Endings. The song is seen through a different lens as a studio version. Written by Ramsey, Andrew Dorff, and Josh Osborne, the song talks about obtaining a number of things in domino effect like, “I get bored, I get drunk, I get drunk, I get brave, I get brave, I get a phone..” and so on, but can never get the girl. The song is stained with southern rock influences such as a heavy guitar and prominent sounding drums.

“Goes Without Saying” is a song from an independent EP that was recorded before the band signed a record deal. Shared on the band’s Instagram, “Goes Without Saying” is the oldest new song we’re putting out tonight. We recorded it for an EP before we even had a record deal.” It’s a sad offering that has frontman Ramsey admitting his loss of love for someone. He sings coupled with an electric guitar: “How could it just disappear / I don’t know how we got here / Broke without breaking / Drunk without drinking / They don’t tell you when your time is up / I guess sometimes love goes without saying // Goes without saying goodbye.”

Old Dominion’s previous single “One Man Band” went to No. 1, broke over 362 million streams, and was certified platinum. “Some People Do” is their current single, and its video can be watched below.
