Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen and More Perform for Guys With Guitars

Guys With Guitars: My Country 96.1’s 8th Birthday Bash at Stereo Garden in Patchogue ended up with many unexpected surprises including a special female performing alongside the guys. The lineup this year featured Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen, Tyler Rich, Riley Green, and Filmore who all took turns performing their biggest hits to date and telling stories behind each of the songs.

Guys with Guitars

Filmore kicked it off with his tracks ‘Country Song,” “Love That About You,” “Slower” and a hidden gem “Leave Our Mark” requested by the audience. Riley Green played the two songs he recently released, “Bettin’ Man” and his upcoming single “In Love By Now.” He also sang his unreleased track “Get That Man A Beer” and his radio smash hit “There Was This Girl,” which is currently #3 on both Billboard and Mediabase charts.

Next, Rich introduced his potential upcoming single “Leave Her Wild” by saying “Has anyone had a controlling ex?” The lyrics are “If you’re going to make her do something, make her smile; If you’re going let her dance, let her sing, let her be whoever she wants to be; leave her wild.” He explained the song is about “happy wife, happy life” and loving a girl for just the way she is.

Guys With Guitars

In the next round, Dylan Scott and Jimmie Allen played their biggest songs and even brought out a special guest. Allen started out the night by playing the first song on his album Mercury Lane “American Heartbreaker” to get the crowd started. Scott opened up with his catchy, smash hit “Hooked” and the crowd was screaming the lyrics. He was very interactive with the crowd, even roses were being thrown up on stage to his band.

Guys with Guitars

The singer-songwriter told stories behind his songs especially about his high school sweetheart turned wife and how they’re expecting their second child. Allen brought out his surprise guest, Abby Anderson to sing their collab on the resonating “Shallow” duet by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Anderson also sang her sassy, southern new single coming out tomorrow called “Good Lord.”  From the crowd’s participation and enthusiasm, it’s safe to say country music is a fan favorite on Long Island.

‘In Love’ with Riley Green’s Newly Released Song

Riley Green In Love By Now

Big Machine Label Group recording artist, Riley Green is one of the most exciting acts in country music right now, earning him a spot on NYCountry Swag’s 2019 Artist to Watch List. After performing for us in a live Swag Session back in October, releasing his EP In a Truck Right Now, and hitting the top 15 on the country airplay charts with his radio single, “There Was This Girl,” the singer-songwriter continues to impress country music fans with his talent. Keeping the momentum going, Green released a new song across all platforms today entitled, “In Love By Now.”

The rising country star has another hit on his hands with his new song. The track tells the story of a guy admitting that he probably blew his chance with a girl that has it all together and knows her worth. This mid-tempo beat mixed with the country crooner’s enticing voice is the perfect blend of new-wave country with some classic twists thrown in. The catchy hook and chorus is sure to be stuck in your head, after just one listen.

“She’s probably in love by now/ A girl like that, don’t stay lonely long/ And I bet she’s already found- somebody else/ He ain’t doing her wrong/ Won’t do no good even if I could, somehow track her down/ She’s probably in love by now.”

Take a listen to the track below and click here to check our New Country Music Spotify playlist for your new country music fix.

Riley Green Today Show

Riley Green Makes His National Television Debut on TODAY!

Earlier this morning, country music’s rising star and one of our 2019 Artists to Watch, Riley Green made his national television debut on NBC’s Today Show. He took the stage during the 10 AM hour with co-anchors, Hoda Kotb and Jenna B. Hagar, performing his debut single, “There Was This Girl” off his EP In A Truck Right Now.

Before performing his infectious chart-climbing single, Hoda and Jenna came to the stage to introduce and talk to the singer-songwriter. When chatting with Green, Hoda mentioned, “First of all can we just say this is your national television debut and we are honored and Riley, when your career goes through the roof, please let’s remember we were all here together on this day!” With Hoda continuing by saying, “How does this ascent feel? I mean all of a sudden people are saying your name and singing your songs.” Green replying, “I don’t think I really fathom it too much you know, it was really fortunate I was able to play the Grand Ole Opry for the first time this year and so my grandparents think I’m famous now but I mean playing the Today Show I feel like I’m kind of starting to believe it a little bit, it’s a pretty big deal.”

After the quick interview, it was the moment country music fans were waiting for. Green kicked off the year, giving viewers at home an upbeat and energized performance to remember. For viewers who did not know who Riley Green was before, they sure do now. Throughout the performance, Green’s infectious smile didn’t leave his face.  At the end of the song, the studio erupted in cheers, while Hoda and Jenna came back on stage clapping and cheering, “Yes Yes Yes,” excitedly calling his performance outstanding, making it a moment to never forget.  Check out our own live performance with Riley Green from our Swag Session below.

NYCountry Swag’s 2019 Artists to Watch

The New York Country Swag team loves to support rising artists and introduce our followers to the best new music in the genre.  Since our inception three years ago we have named rising stars like Russell Dickerson, Luke Combs, Brett Young, Jordan Davis, and Jimmie Allen as our Artists to Watch. Check out our picks in 2017 and 2018 before checking out the 10 artists we picked to have a huge 2019 below.

10. Austin Burke – This Arizona native moved to Nashville when he was 19 years old and has been working towards putting independent music out ever since.  His single “Whole Lot In Love” has garnered over 46 million streams on Spotify, making him one of the most successful independent artists on the platform.  His latest single “Slower” is a smooth, love song written for his longtime girlfriend. Fans of Brett Young will love this rising singer-songwriter.

9. Abby Anderson – One of our Swag Spotlights in 2018, Abby Anderson released her debut EP, “I’m Good” back in September with Black River Records and packed a whole lot of sass her five-song project. The first single released, “Make Him Wait” however teaches women of every age about the respect they deserve in a relationship. Her bubbly personality and powerful vocal ability made her a standout to our team right from the beginning.

8. Riley Green – During our Live Swag Session with Riley Green he sang his debut single “There Was a Girl” and explained how his life has changed over the past year. Signing with Big Machine Label Group and releasing his single along with a music video has gained him a huge fanbase.  He released a four-song EP back in June keeping the traditional country sound while appealing to modern country fans as well.

7. Brandon Ratcliff – Closing out 2018 with a huge announcement, Brandon Ratcliff will be touring with Brett Young and Kelsea Ballerini on the Miss Me More Tour.  If you haven’t listened to his song “Rules of Breaking Up” (produced by Shane McAnally) you will love his blend of R&B and new wave country. Fans of Thomas Rhett and Kane Brown, Brandon Ratcliff is your next favorite artist.

6. Seaforth – Mitch Thompson and Tom Jordan make up the new duo Seaforth and are the latest Australian transplants to Nashville. Their friendship spans over the past two decades and these singer-songwriters just released two tracks that are already causing quite a buzz in the country music world. We featured “Talk To Me” as one of our December Picks and are loving their vibe. Time will tell if they can garner the same success as Keith Urban and more recently fellow Australian, Morgan Evans. If you love Dan + Shay you will certainly love Seaforth.

5. Kassi Ashton – One of our most unique picks this year is Kassi Ashton, small-town native who busted out and is making huge waves not only in the country community but on music in general.  Her distinct style, personality, and songwriting set her apart from the glitz and glam female country artists as she sings about her real-life experiences and doesn’t sugarcoat anything. As we anxiously await her debut project, take a listen to “Taxidermy” a hilarious threat to anyone who does her wrong.

4. Teddy Robb – One of the artists we are most excited about in 2019 is our Swag Spotlight Teddy Robb. Just recently signed to Monument Records, Robb is working with some of Nashville’s best songwriters to create his first project. Be on the lookout for a brand new song tomorrow but in the meantime check out “Lead Me On” which has been streamed over 4 million times and recaps from songwriter nights the rising star hosted in Nashville.

3. Filmore – At the end of 2018, Filmore released a brand new single “Heart’s Having a Hard Time”, a follow up to his biggest hit yet, “Slower”. Another Missouri native with undeniable swagger, Filmore has often been compared to Sam Hunt as he combines cool R&B vibes with country songwriting. He has been on the Nashville scene for a few years and we think 2019 will be his year to really break out.

2. Tenille Townes – Straight from her small hometown in Canada, Tenille Townes has already experienced a ton of success since her move to Nashville.  The thought-provoking singer-songwriter joined Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert on one of the best tours this past year (The Bandwagon Tour) and her unique voice is recognizable in the genre. In our Swag Spotlight interview back in April, Townes told us about  Big Hearts for Big Kids, an organization she is involved with that has raised over 1.5 million dollars since its inception just under a decade ago. Between her love for philanthropy and her rare ability to convey stories, Townes is in for another successful year.

Mitchell Tenpenny – If you have been following NYCountry Swag you know our love for Mitchell Tenpenny.  From the moment we recorded a Live Swag Session with him in Times Square back in 2017, we have been fans of his songwriting as well as his powerhouse voice.  To close out 2018, Tenpenny released his debut album, Telling All My Secrets and hit the number one spot on the country charts with “Drunk Me”. We attended his very first sold-out NYC headlining show in August and it was incredible to hear the entire audience sing along to every song. We are looking forward to seeing even more success from the recording artist in 2019.

Riley Green Performs in Nashville for CMA After Party

Riley Green Wildhorse

95.5 NASH ICON teamed up with Carl Black Chevrolet and Wrangler Western for a CMA Awards Party. They invited people to come in, sit down, and watch the CMA Awards followed by an after-party performance with Big Machine recording artist Riley Green at the Wildhorse Saloon in Downtown Nashville. Not to mention, it was a FREE show.

He had a set of six songs including a new one he’s been singing out on the road recently, called “Get That Man A Beer”. This song was written about a girl that left him for his friend and then the girl left his friend too. The new tune is catchy, country and cleverly written. He also sang some of his classics, “Atlantic City, “Georgia Time,” “Bury Me In Dixie,” and his unique cover of “In Color” by Jamey Johnson. Of course, he ended with his current radio single “There Was This Girl” that’s currently at No. 22 on the Billboard charts and is climbing quickly. Green’s casual and confident stage presence makes him a natural in the country music setting. Check out our Live Swag Session with the singer below.

Not only did Green have an audience engaging set, but he also represented Halo Waterfowl, an outdoor apparel company, by wearing their branded ball cap at the show. Green is a pro-staff at the company, meaning he gets to test their outdoor apparel while hunting. Green and the owner, Greg Camp, have a video series to show their adventures on the road and hunting.

If you happen to have the chance to see Green live, we highly suggest doing so. He has the sounds of old-traditional country music that’s bringing the crowds in for a treat. Make sure to check out his dates here and watch out for his new music coming out soon that he’s been teasing on social media.

Riley Green Debuts Music Video for “There Was This Girl”

We caught up with rising country singer, Riley Green, earlier this week, during a Swag Session at The Boogie Woogie Room inside Mondrian Park Avenue Hotel. The Alabama native performed his tracks “In A Truck Right Now” and “There Was This Girl,” for us just days before the release of his new music video for “There Was This Girl.”  Watch our Live Swag Session below.

Green brings a unique energy and creativity to his video (below), utilizing visuals of his live show, filmed in his home state of Alabama, showcasing his fans, to bring the lyrics of the song to life. The video features close-ups of fans holding up signs for the artist, concertgoers singing along, and of course, Green jamming on stage with a guitar in hand. The video truly gives the viewer a direct look at how fun and upbeat the singer’s concerts would be.

“There Was This Girl,” off his debut EP, In A Truck Right Now,  continues to climb the charts at Country Radio, already reaching the top 25. In a recent press release, Green shared his inspiration for the track and writing music, “I like writing conversational songs, songs that come from things I might say every day. And often I’d be talking about a girl and how she inspired me to do something to impress her. I think that’s a pretty relatable thing. A lot of guys have been through the same stuff.”

Keep up with Riley Green on social media – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and head to his website here for upcoming tour dates.

Swag Sessions: Featuring Riley Green

One of the most talked about new artists in Nashville is Alabama native, Riley Green. NYCountry Swag hosted a Swag Session at The Boogie Woogie Room inside Mondrian Park Avenue Hotel with the rising star earlier today.  Green performed the title track from his debut EP “In A Truck Right Now” and his current radio single that just hit top 25 on the charts, “There Was This Girl”.

He also answered a few questions for our Founder, Stephanie Wagner about signing his record deal with Big Machine Label Group and how his career as a singer-songwriter is sort of “accidental”.  Watch the full Swag Session above and take a listen to Green’s music below. For more music from artists we’ve featured during our LIVE Swag Sessions, check out our Sessions Playlist here and give it a follow for updates.
