Ingrid Andress & Sam Hunt Go Number One with “Wishful Drinking”

Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt score a joint number one single at country radio with their song, “Wishful Drinking.” Learn more here.

Last year when Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt delighted fans with a new collaboration, we knew “Wishful Drinking” was something special. The sad-bop highlights the incredible vocal abilities from Andress, while Hunt’s signature sound shines through. “Wishful Drinking” marks the songstress’ first number one single at country radio and Hunt’s tenth!

The mid-tempo song is a masterful word-play track. “Wishful Drinking” depicts the feelings we all go through when we start drinking, thinking maybe things can work with someone you love. The two entertainers trade verses while maintaining some killer harmonies in the chorus.

“Maybe I’m just wishful drinking // Give my heart something to sink in // Better make it two, nothing I won’t do for another round of me and you // I get hopeful whеn I’m tipsy // Thinking you might actually miss me // It’s 100 proof, nothing I won’t do for another round of me and you”

While Andress and Hunt might have been an unpredictable pair, “Wishful Drinking” undeniably works. Clearly, country fans and country radio agree too! It will be interesting to see what is next for each artist respectively. Congrats to Andress and Hunt’s teams on an incredible feat!

Summer is officially here and we have brand new Sam Hunt music to kick it off perfectly! The singer-songwriter dropped his brand new song, “Water Under The Bridge,” today. It is an instant jam and a must-add to your playlists ASAP.

The new single, written by Hunt with his songwriting buddies, Chris LaCorte, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne, is a fast-paced bop. The song is a mood all of its own. “Water Under The Bridge” embodies nostalgia and those wild and carefree days of our youth.

“That muddy river, it was rollin’ // We didn’t care where it was goin’ // We had it made, we didn’t know it // We were young, dumb, and so full of it // Broken bottles and graffiti // Beer and girls and poppin’ wheelies // Love was fun and life was easy // Now it’s just water under the bridge”

We hope this new single is the start of more music to come from Hunt, who appears to be constantly writing new music. The singer always manages to release music that his fanbase flocks too, showcasing his undeniable charm and staying power one song at a time.

“Take Your Time”- Montevallo, 2014

“Take Your Time” was Hunt’s second single to country radio. The mid-tempo ballad with half-spoken and half-sung lyrics continued to catapult Hunt to stardom.

“House Party”- Montevallo, 2015

“House Party” upped the ante for Hunt. The song is the third single to head to country radio from his debut record Montevallo. It showcases the fun, party-side of Hunt and his incredible stage presence.

“Make You Miss Me”- Montevallo, 2016

One of our all-time Sam Hunt favorites, “Make You Miss Me” is the singer-songwriter’s fourth single to hit the top of the country airplay charts. The song made Hunt the first solo male artist to pull four Country Airplay number one hits from a debut record.

“Body Like a Back Road”- Southside, 2018

In 2018, Hunt re-emerged with more new music. “Body Like a Back Road” took the music world by storm, earning its title as Hunt’s most decorated and successful single to date.

“Kinfolks”- Southside, 2019

Upon his return to country music, Hunt surprised the world with “Kinfolks.” Released at the end of 2019, Hunt gave country music fans something to be excited about. The nostalgic love song was the perfect song to find its way back up the charts for the singer.

“Hard to Forget”- Southside, 2020

Hunt’s single “Hard to Forget,” quietly found its way to the number one spot on the Country Airplay charts. On the single, the entertainer puts a classic country spin on an enticing new song.

“Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s”- Southside, 2020

Less than a year after its release, Hunt secured his eighth number-one single on the country airplay charts with “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s.” Hunt utilizes his signature ‘talk-singing’ on the track to convey how difficult break-ups are in modern times. This remains one of our favorite Hunt songs so far.

“23”- Southside, 2021

Most recently, Hunt’s song “23” hit the top spot on the charts. His first number one of 2022, the nostalgic song captures youth, young love, and a last-taste of summertime perfectly. It is the perfect song to lead us into summer.

Carly Pearce & Ashley McBryde’s Song “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” Goes #1

Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde’s incredible song, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” officially goes number one at country radio. Learn more here…

It is about time that Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde’s killer duet, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” found its way to the top of the country charts! The song has been a fan-favorite for quite some time now, even earning nominations at various award shows. The number one marks the third top track for Pearce and the first for McBryde.

“Never Wanted To Be That Girl” tells the heart-wrenching story of two women loving the same man.  Written by the songstresses with Shane McAnally, the song is undeniably catchy and poignant. The back and forth nature of the story makes for an enticing listen, every time. Pearce and McBryde prove that women in country music are absolute superstars!

“I never wanted to be that girl // I never wanted to hate myself // I thought this kind of lonely only happens to somebody else // Bein’ the other one when there’s another one // God, this feels like hell // Thought I knew who I was, but it’s gettin’ hard to tell // I never wanted to be that girl”

Both singer-songwriters put words to an experience that many women (and men) unfortunately go through. It truly is country music songwriting at its finest. Congrats to Pearce and McBryde on their number one!

Sam Hunt Releases Nostalgic New Song “23”

Sam Hunt’s brand new song “23” is out now, September 9th, on all streaming platforms.  Take a look below as we dig into the track.

Sam Hunt released one of the best records of 2020, Southside, six years after his debut chart-topping album Montevallo. Now, the singer-songwriter returns with a brand new track, “23”. The nostalgic song captures youth, young love, and a last-taste of summer vibe perfectly. “23” opens with a groovy guitar and drum moving you through the first verse.

“You could marry an architect // build you a house out on the water // that really impresses your father”

Hunt continues to name things that sound glamorous on paper, but even when you’re living a sophisticated lifestyle, there will always be the lingering memory of that one young love. The one whose memories together can never be replaced.

“No matter where I go, no matter what I do // I’ll never be 23 with anyone but you // You can marry who you want // Go back to Tennessee // But you’ll never be 23 with anyone but me”

The idea is both simple and universal, and it’s unlike other songs Hunt has released so far. Lyrically, it has all the elements that make any song he touches gold: it tells a specific, transportable story and is undeniably catchy. In some ways, though, it feels like Hunt is not the protagonist of the song. Over the last 8 years of his career, he has grown up, so it sounds like a true reflection of his past. It makes it more compelling to listen to.

It’s exciting to evolve with Sam Hunt and to see how he writes and processes different seasons of life. He remains recognizable on “23”, but continues to grow as a writer and artist. We can’t wait to hear where he goes next and to be on this musical journey with him.

Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt Collaborate on New Song “Wishful Drinking”

Ingrid Andress teamed up with Sam Hunt for a powerful new duet titled “Wishful Drinking.” The new song is available now, August 2nd, on all streaming platforms. Take a look Listen below as we dig deeper into the track.

For a COVID-stricken year, Hunt and Andress are coming off impressive 2020s. Hunt released his highly anticipated sophomore album Southside, which debuted at number one on the Hot Country Albums Chart and produced four number-one singles. Andress released her debut album Lady Like, which peaked at number nine on the same charts. Andress also picked up three nominations at the latest GRAMMY Awards. The two combined their star power and recent success to create a large buzz around this new “sad bop.”

‘Wishful drinking’ is a fun play-on-words, as the two singers start feeling optimistic when they begin tipping them back, hoping that the other is missing them as well. Andress takes the first verse and chorus, Hunt takes the second, and then their harmonies shine throughout the rest of the song. The two are known for blending genres and sometimes hugging the line between country and pop, and this track is no different. Their beautiful vocals mixed with this mid-tempo, snap track beat and subtle banjo strums layered in have listeners really feeling for these fictional ‘wishful drinkers.’

Andress is hitting the road this fall, supporting Dan + Shay on the Arena Tour and headlining her very own Feeling Things Tour. For tickets, head to her website.

Sam Hunt’s Current Single “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” Hits #1

Sam Hunt lands his eighth number one song at country radio this week with “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s”. The fifth single off his Southside album.

Sam Hunt is one of those artists that floats in and out of the limelight but always manages to crank out hit after hit. We are big fans of his latest album Southside, and it’s no surprise that each of his singles from the record have landed on the top of the charts. Currently, “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” is the number one song on the country charts, marking the fourth single off the record to hit the top spot, following “Body Like A Back Road,” “Kinfolks,” and “Hard To Forget.”

“Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” was easily one of our favorites off the record. Hunt utilizes his signature ‘talk-singing’ on the track to convey how difficult break-ups are in modern times. He comes to the conclusion that breaking up was easier back in the ’90s. The cleverly strung-together lyrics, make it hard not to fall in love with this all too relatable song.

“Funny how you haven’t changed a bit // You’re twice as pretty // Glad you finally got to see New York City // I know it’s not a race, but looks like you’re getting over me faster than I’m getting over you // But hey // What you gonna do.”

It seems Hunt is ready to continue to release more music and play shows again, so we’re excited to see what he has up his sleeve next. It’s clear from his social media that he is constantly writing, so we’re sure fans are in store for something big. Until then, congrats to Hunt and his team on their eighth number one song!

If You Like Justin Bieber Then You’ll Love…

If you like Justin Bieber then you’ll love country artists, Sam Hunt, Russell Dickerson, and Kane Brown. Learn why, here!

We believe that everyone is a country music fan, they just might not know it yet! Unless you live under a rock, you are most likely a Justin Bieber fan.  With his killer voice, catchy tunes, and staying power in the mainstream music scene, everyone is a Bieber fan. If you love Bieber then you should definitely check out the country artists below too!

Sam Hunt:

Grammy-nominated recording artist, Sam Hunt is one of the most eclectic singer-songwriters in the country music genre. He infuses hip-hop, rhythms, and pop into his music, while still remaining true to story-telling lyrics. Like Bieber, Hunt’s phrasing is unique and catchy. Both artists deliver comparable sounds that are still distinctly their own.

To keep up with Sam Hunt, follow him on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

Russell Dickerson:

It is no secret that Russell is one of our all-time favorites, but that’s not why he makes the list. Dickerson is a future Entertainer of the Year, putting on an incredible live show, like Bieber. His pop-country sound, and his ability to sing pretty much everything, makes Dickerson easy to love cross-genre.

To keep up with Russell Dickerson follow him on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

Kane Brown:

Bonafide superstar, Kane Brown also transcends the country music genre. Like Bieber, he has a diehard fanbase and loves to collaborate with artists in different genres. Brown’s songs “Cool Again” and “One Thing Right” are sonically-pleasing, just like Bieber’s tunes. On the other hand, Brown’s honesty in “For My Daughter” matches Bieber’s vulnerability in songs like “Lonely” and “Anyone.”

To keep up with Kane Brown, follow him on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.
