Jon Pardi Celebrates His Album Release at Hammerstein Ballroom

Singer-songwriter, Jon Pardi celebrated the release of his third studio album, Heartache Medication with a show at the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in the heart of New York City on Friday night. The 2017 CMA New Artist of the Year brought along fellow California-native and good friend, Tyler Rich.

As the floor was filling in for Jon Pardi, Tyler Rich entertained the crowd with a mix of tracks from his 2015 EP Valerie, his 2019 self-titled EP, unreleased songs and a variety of covers. Rich expressed that he has been to this venue before to see some of his favorite artists but there was no cooler feeling than performing on stage. He sandwiched a cover of Halsey’s “Without Me” in between his songs “11:11” and “Adrenaline” to start the show before playing a snippet of a slow, new song he did not reveal the name of. He followed that with an upbeat track in “Turn It Up.”

Rich, from Yuba City, California grew up just 55 miles from Pardi’s hometown of Dixon. Ironically, Rich’s uncle coached Pardi’s high school football team. Rich told him that the first time they met at a bar in Nashville. “And since that moment, Jon took me in as one of his best friends in Nashville and just showed me the entire town. And you guys bought tickets to support his new album that just came out but you did not just buy tickets to see one of your favorite country singers, you bought tickets (to see) a good-ass person; he’s one of the nicest guys I ever met.”

Rich then performed an unreleased song he has played at his shows before called “God Made You For a Small Town” which transitioned into a cover of The Beatles’ “Hey Jude”. “Feels Like Home” came next, another unreleased track. He closed his set with his current single “Leave Her Wild” and his hit “The Difference”.

NYCountry Swag caught up with Tyler Rich just before he hit the stage at Hammerstein for a live swag session with the rising artist. Tune in below to catch his acoustic performance of “Leave Her Wild” and interview.

Jon Pardi came out on stage to a new song called “Oughta Know That”, the first of ten songs he performed Friday night off Heartache Medication. He ditched the guitar to sing “Night Shift” off his sophomore album California Sunrise. Pardi told us that he idolized traditional country artists growing up such as George Strait, Dwight Yoakam and Mark Chesnutt, who are never seen without their guitars. Just like his heroes, that was the last song of the night he performed without a guitar in his hands. “Up All Night” from his debut album, Write You a Song was next.

He then played two new songs in “Old Hat” and “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” then went back to older stuff in “Can’t Put Down” and “She Ain’t In It”. Pardi surprised the fans for his next song, “Tequila Little Time” when he brought out an entire mariachi band on stage to perform with him. The audience loved the twist.

Many people believe that country music and The Big Apple do not go together but ask any country artist and they’ll tell you New York has some of the best country fans out there. “They asked me, ‘why would I go to New York City for an album debut?’ Because New York City is awesome; they love country music!” He praised the crowd for the energy they were bringing so far.

After “What I’ve Been Drinking”, he played two more new songs in “Love Her Like She’s Leaving” and album’s lead single “Heartache Medication”. This made the fans rowdier than before. A couple of songs later, Pardi thanked them and country radio for making this next song, “Head Over Boots” number one and really giving him a voice in the industry.

“Me and Jack” is the story of his love/hate relationship with the whiskey. He displayed that story in cartoon form on the screen behind him as he performed the new tune. Another new one, “Tied One Up” was followed by his big hit “Heartache on the Dancefloor”. Pardi talked about how his grandparents were the ones who got him into country music. He dedicated his next song and the final track on the album, “Starlight”, to them. He ended his set with his boot-stomping number one single, “Dirt on My Boots”. Pardi introduced his band, took a bow then walked off stage, concluding the fun-filled, high-energy night, leaving the crowd of country music traditionalists very satisfied.

We’ve seen Pardi as a supporting act on tours with Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley in the past and if you thought he put on a good show then, you have to see him as a headliner. This Jon Pardi was even more animated on stage and even displayed a few dance moves that he’s kept hidden for us.

Pardi will continue the Heartache Medication Tour with special guest Riley Green starting with two sold-out shows at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Find out if he is coming to a city near you by heading to his website.

Tyler Rich Marries Sabina Gadecki in ‘Festival Themed’ Wedding

Singer-songwriter, Tyler Rich and actress Sabina Gadecki are officially married! The two tied the knot in a beautiful ‘festival-themed’ wedding at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in front of 275 of their closest friends and family, according to People.

The festival-themed idea stems from Stagecoach Music Festival, where the couple first met three years ago and pays tribute to their early memories together and their now daily life on the road and at festivals across the country.

NYCountry Swag caught up with the “Leave Her Wild” singer earlier this summer at Taste of Country Music Festival where he dished about the upcoming wedding and his future wife.

“She’s a little crazy, the best kind of crazy. She’s always the life of the party. She’s always smiling and jumping around and partying.” He told us in an on-camera interview. “That’s what drew me to her, when I first saw her. I was like ‘I love her spirit, I love her energy.’” Check out the full interview in the video below.

Tyler Rich shows no signs of slowing down. Almost a year to the date from releasing his debut self-titled EP, Rich announced earlier this week that he would be releasing brand new music very soon and just next week he kicks off the ‘Heartache Medication’ Tour with headliner Jon Pardi. New York country fans can grab tickets to the show here and enter for your chance to win here.

Congratulations, Tyler & Sabina!

Top 5 Rising Artists You Can’t Miss at Taste of Country Festival

New York’s Taste of Country Festival at Hunter Mountain is one of our favorite events of the year! NYCountry Swag will be setting up shop at the festival for the third year in a row. We can’t wait to see you all at our booth!

As always, the festival is armed with some heavy hitters, including superstar Keith Urban and the iconic Brooks & Dunn; however, it’s the impressive list of up and coming country artists that we are most excited for.

Take a look below at five rising artists that you can’t miss!

1. Morgan Wallen
The Big Loud Records recording artist was recently added to the TOC lineup, but his Sunday afternoon set is one you won’t want to miss! Wallen recently headlined a sold-out tour, achieved his first number one single with “Up Down,” and his newest single, “Whiskey Glasses” just hit the number one spot. Back in 2017, before his massive success and before the infamous mullet, we had the chance to interview the singer-songwriter. During that conversation, our Managing Editor, Christina predicted that “Up, Down” would go number one, and sure enough she was right!

2. Runaway June
The ladies of Runaway June are another act to look out for at Taste of Country! Their self-titled debut EP landed them a spot on the road as a supporting act for Carrie Underwood on her ‘Cry Pretty Tour 360.’ Last summer, we caught up with the sassy and talented trio just before its release, where we previewed their song “Wild Wild West” and their hit, “Buy My Own Drinks” in one of our Swag Sessions. Make sure to catch their set on Friday afternoon- it’s sure to be a good time!

3. Tyler Rich
On Saturday afternoon, you don’t want to miss Tyler Rich’s set! Last year in May, we had a chance to chat with the singer about plans for more music, his radio single, “The Difference,” and his first time on the TODAY show. Flash forward a year later, he has toured with Brett Young, released more music, most recently “Leave Her Wild,” and of course, garnered fans across the country.

4. Adam Doleac
Possibly the least known on our list of rising country artists that are a must see at the Taste of Country Festival, Adam Doleac is someone to add to your list! Opening up the performances on Sunday afternoon, the singer-songwriter has been one of our favorites since 2017, when he released his self-titled debut EP. During his first time in New York City, we hosted a Swag Session with Doleac, where he sang a few songs, including “Whiskey’s Fine.” Currently, the singer has a killer hit, “Famous,” that he is sure to sing as part of his must-see set at the festival!

5. Walker Hayes
Rounding out our list of rising artists you can’t miss at Taste of Country Festival is one of our favorites, Walker Hayes! Armed with a fun personality and catchy songs, Hayes is an artist who delivers on stage. The singer-songwriter will most likely sing hits, “You Broke Up With Me” and “90’s Country;” the former he sang for New York Country Swag, during a Swag Session, before a show in NYC. Make sure to head to his set on Friday Night!

For a full schedule, list of performers and tickets for Taste of Country Festival, head to tasteofcountryfestival.com

Tyler Rich Premieres New Song and Video for “Leave Her Wild”

Tyler Rich "Leave Her Wild" Music Video

Tyler Rich “Leave Her Wild” Music Video

As the clock struck midnight, Valory Music Co. recording artist, Tyler Rich released his first song of the new year, entitled “Leave Her Wild.” With a loyal fanbase behind him, a successful self-titled debut album, which was released in 2018, and a sold-out touring gig with Brett Young on his resume, the singer is primed for an even bigger year in 2019.

Fans may be familiar with Rich’s newly released song, as he’s been performing “Leave Her Wild” live at shows over the past couple of months. The recording artist shared his excitement about the new track, as well as his appreciation for the fans’ support, sharing on his Twitter, “I’m SO beyond excited to finally release this song! The endless messages I’ve gotten from all of you since we started playing this live has meant so much to me. So, Thank you! If this song moves you, then please share it! #LeaveHerWild.”

The lyrically-focused track reminds people to never try to change the person they fell in love with. Rich beautifully articulates the importance of always remembering the little things you loved about your person, and to always allow he or she to stay true to themselves. The song is certainly one for Rich to celebrate.

“If you find a girl / Hands up / Hanging half way out on the highway / You find a girl / Like whiskey / Mixed in a handle of coffee / Find a girl who scares you half to death / You’d kill to be the train she wrecks / Don’t tell her, I never met someone like you / Then try to turn her into every girl you’ve ever knew / If you’re gonna love her / If you’re gonna love her / If you’re gonna love her / Leave her wild”

To elevate the song even more, Rich surprisingly dropped ‘A First Look’ music video to accompany the track. The visuals will put a smile on your face, as the camera flashes to clips of different people, children, and couples living freely, doing whatever they desire. The video ends with the image of Rich smiling ear to ear in the recording booth.

Catch the singer at Taste of Country Music Festival at New York’s Hunter Mountain in June, where NYCountry Swag will also set-up shop for the third year, so make sure to stop by! Additionally, Rich will make a stop at Nashville’s CMA Fest just days later. For tickets and more tour information, head to tylerrich.com

To keep up with Rich, follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Leave Her Wild” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen and More Perform for Guys With Guitars

Guys With Guitars: My Country 96.1’s 8th Birthday Bash at Stereo Garden in Patchogue ended up with many unexpected surprises including a special female performing alongside the guys. The lineup this year featured Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen, Tyler Rich, Riley Green, and Filmore who all took turns performing their biggest hits to date and telling stories behind each of the songs.

Guys with Guitars

Filmore kicked it off with his tracks ‘Country Song,” “Love That About You,” “Slower” and a hidden gem “Leave Our Mark” requested by the audience. Riley Green played the two songs he recently released, “Bettin’ Man” and his upcoming single “In Love By Now.” He also sang his unreleased track “Get That Man A Beer” and his radio smash hit “There Was This Girl,” which is currently #3 on both Billboard and Mediabase charts.

Next, Rich introduced his potential upcoming single “Leave Her Wild” by saying “Has anyone had a controlling ex?” The lyrics are “If you’re going to make her do something, make her smile; If you’re going let her dance, let her sing, let her be whoever she wants to be; leave her wild.” He explained the song is about “happy wife, happy life” and loving a girl for just the way she is.

Guys With Guitars

In the next round, Dylan Scott and Jimmie Allen played their biggest songs and even brought out a special guest. Allen started out the night by playing the first song on his album Mercury Lane “American Heartbreaker” to get the crowd started. Scott opened up with his catchy, smash hit “Hooked” and the crowd was screaming the lyrics. He was very interactive with the crowd, even roses were being thrown up on stage to his band.

Guys with Guitars

The singer-songwriter told stories behind his songs especially about his high school sweetheart turned wife and how they’re expecting their second child. Allen brought out his surprise guest, Abby Anderson to sing their collab on the resonating “Shallow” duet by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Anderson also sang her sassy, southern new single coming out tomorrow called “Good Lord.”  From the crowd’s participation and enthusiasm, it’s safe to say country music is a fan favorite on Long Island.

Tyler Rich and Brett Young Warm Up a Cold Times Square Crowd

While most people were having the Sunday scaries last night, New York country music fans fled to the heart of Times Square to catch CMT On Tour featuring Rachel Wammack, Tyler Rich, and headliner Brett Young at PlayStation Theater. The line of freezing fans wrapped around the corner all waiting to get inside, check their coats at the door and dance and sing along to some great country music for the evening.

Brett Young Tyler Rich Rachel Wammack

Rachel Wammack, one of Sony Music Nashville’s newest artists kicked things off, proving her incredible vocal ability to a new set of fans in the Big Apple.  She sang songs from her self-titled debut EP including the powerful, heartwrenching ballads “Closure” and her current debut radio single “Damage”.  “This is my very first tour and NYC, Y’all are freakin’ sweet,” she said to the packed floor.  She also put her own spin on 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Youngblood” which had the crowd dancing along.

Brett Young Tyler Rich Rachel Wammack

Next up was Tyler Rich, the proud California native took “warming up the crowd” to a new level, playing a bunch of upbeat songs and infusing his own signature style of country music into the set. He sang all four songs from his self-titled EP including “Adrenaline” and “Take It Or Leave It”, as well as covering a country-rock version of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” which had every single audience member jumping up and down in unison.  “We’ve been counting down the days until we got to play NYC and Y’all just sold this shit out and you didn’t just sell it out but you sold it out on a Sunday, that is quite the accomplishment,” Rich laughed. He took time out of his set to thank the first responders that were present in the crowd as well as send a shout out to all of those who helped fight the recent wildfires in his home state of California.  He explained that fellow California born artists, Brett Young, Jon Pardi, Devin Dawson, Gary Allen and himself teamed up to create a shirt where the funds would go directly to aiding in relief from those devastating fires. You can find your Cali Love shirt and donate here.   Rich closed out his set with his two radio singles “11:11” and the song that he says got it all started for him, “The Difference”.

The Sunday night crowd was good and ready when Brett Young took the stage just after 9 PM.  Although most of his radio singles are mid-slow tempo ballads, Young captivated the crowd with his genuine nature and compelling storytelling.  He kicked off the night with the first single from his sophomore album, “Here Tonight” and continued throughout the evening to play songs from Ticket to L.A as well as some of the biggest hits from his debut self-titled album.  Closing out his album release week for Ticket to L.A.  He thanked CMT for sponsoring this tour as well as country radio for the success he has seen over the past few years.

“I thought forever, if I could just get a song on country radio, that’ll do it, I didn’t understand what that meant or how hard that was…” Young explained. “All that to say, country radio took a chance on me anyway and I’ll never be able to say thank you enough,” he said humbly before singing his second number one single “In Case You Didn’t Know”.

Brett Young Tyler Rich Rachel Wammack

Two highlights from the night included Young stopping to give credit to his band who also just happen to be incredible singers.  After revealing that his very first concert was BoyzIIMen and Mariah Carey, he allowed his band members to each sing a verse of their soulful hit “Water Runs Dry”. He also welcomed back to the stage Rachel Wammack and Tyler Rich to sit on either side of him to perform Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.

Young closed out the night by singing a cover of Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You”, as well as leading the audience in a sing-along to his very first number one hit “Sleep Without You”. Head to NYCountry Swag’s Instagram for exclusive videos from last night’s incredible line up.

Rich & his band started off the show dressed up as characters from the movie Top Gun and performed the hit from the soundtrack “Danger Zone.” He also sang a new song called “Leave Her Wild,” and a few tracks from his EP including “11:11,” Adrenaline,” and his chart-climbing single “The Difference.” Bradbery & her band came out dressed as the from Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’. She came out in a pink-short sleeved dress as the character “Eleven.” The set included her first single “Heart Of Dixie” to her chart-climbing track duet with Thomas Rhett “Goodbye Summer.”

Eli Young Band mentioned they didn’t know they had to dress up, so they took a pre-show trip to Walmart and ended on stage in costume as doctors. They sang some of their hits “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and “Crazy Girl,” to get the crowd going and also their new single “Love Ain’t.”  The headliner, Rascal Flatts came out dressed up all different costumes. The band was dressed as the aliens from Toy Story, Joe Don Rooney was dressed in an ancient Egyptian costume, Jay DeMarcus dressed simply as a ninja, and Gary Levox in S.W.A.T. costume. They had the crowd singing along to all of their hits from “What Hurts The Most” to “Life Is A Highway.”

The annual Battle of the Bones event was in support of the T.J. Martell Foundation, which is the music industry’s largest foundation that funds cancer research. The foundation was established by Tony Martell’s making a promise to his dying son. T.J. Martell, a high school student battling leukemia. He asked his father to raise a million dollars so that no one else would have to experience what he had gone through. The proceeds of the show will benefit the FTL Sarcoma Fund. NYCS First Impression: Tyler Rich Releases Self-Titled Debut EP

Tyler Rich Releases Self-Titled Debut EP

Tyler Rich Releases Self-Titled Debut EP

The Valory Music Co. recording artist Tyler Rich has released his highly anticipated self-titled debut EP, available everywhere today. The project features four tracks including his breakout single “The Difference” and advance single “11:11”.

“I’m beyond ecstatic to finally get my debut EP out to the world after all of the time we spent writing and creating!” shared Rich in a recent press release. “I believe these first few songs really show who I am as an artist and what fans can expect out on the road.”

The rising star took to Instagram Live just after midnight on Thursday evening, to chat about the new music. To celebrate, Rich said he was drinking pumpkin beer and gearing up to watch American Horror Story with a few buddies nearby and a man’s best friend by his side, his dog Abby. Rich answered questions from fans on Instagram before grabbing his guitar and singing a few clips of each song.

The leading single from the EP and SiriusXM The Highway No.1 hit “The Difference”, was released earlier this year and is currently sitting at #35 on Billboard Country Airplay. The catchy song marks Rich’s introduction to country music fans and country radio. While Rhett Akins, Ben Burgess, Devin Dawson and Jacob Durrett penned the track, Rich was immediately connected to it’s lyrics and beach-like, California vibe. After learning that fellow Cali-native, Devin Dawson was a co-writer on the track, Rich knew that the song was meant to be for him.

“Despite what some may say, people are always looking for that one person who is going to change their life. They are looking for a person that’s going to be the difference and I felt like it was a song people needed to hear,” Rich explains in an exclusive live interview with NYCountry Swag seen in the video above.

As “The Difference” continued to climb the charts, Rich released the second single from the EP, “11:11” back in June, giving fans another taste of what’s to come. “11:11” marks one of the last songs that the famed songwriter Andrew Dorff co-wrote [along with Jon Nite and Lindsay Rimes] before he passed away suddenly in 2016.

“11:11” puts a twist on the common idea that people make a wish when the clock hits those mirrored double digits. For someone going through a break-up, that time could be a painful reminder of the person they wished they still had. The lyrics are honest and vulnerable, making it a relatable post-breakup song.

It’s 11:11 and I can’t help make a wish / I wish you wouldn’t have left, no, not the way that you did /
Why the hell did I say things that I didn’t mean / Why didn’t I say you were everything, everything

With the release of the EP, comes two brand new songs, “Adrenaline” and “Take It Or Leave It”. Both of which, Rich co-wrote. “Take It Or Leave It” tells the story of giving the other person the reigns in deciding whether to pursue the next steps towards a relationship.

Girl, there’s no pressure, it’s just whatever you want / I’ll be right here waitin’ /
With my mind racin’ / Either way, babe, it’s your call

“Adrenaline” is about finally getting over a lost love, when the right person comes along. The lyrics flow into each other navigating the feelings of a new love interest giving you that extra rush adrenaline-like feeling.

Your kiss is makin’ me feel again / Those lips are stronger than medicine
I’m fallin’, I’m all in / You brought me back to life / More alive than I’ve ever been

Overall, the EP is one that country fans can easily keep on repeat. Rich’s charismatic personality in his live shows and distinctive vocals make him a promising act to follow. No official announcement has been made regarding a full-length album, but Rich has teased at the idea that fans might see something in early Spring 2019.

Rich makes his Opry debut next week before joining fellow Californian, Brett Young on the road for his headlining “CMT On Tour: Here Tonight” Tour. The show stops in NYC this December making it one of the hottest tickets for New York country music fans this winter. For more dates and ticket information, visit tylerrich.com.
