The Best Deep Cuts from Eric Church

Superstar Eric Church has given us over a decade of great music. Here are some of our favorite deep cuts from his incredible catalog…

“What I Almost Was”Sinners Like Me

“Flipped off that coach, left that school in the dust / For letting my dreams go bust / But I thank God I ain’t what I almost was”

An honest account of Church’s journey to superstardom, “What I Almost Was” is a gem off his debut record. Relatable, real, and authentic, this song is one of our classic Church favorites.

“Kill a Word”Mr. Misunderstood

“I’d turn lies and hate to love and truth / If I could only kill a word”

Although technically a single, this song deserves even more recognition for its poignant message. Church, unapologetically, stands his ground, fighting for more positivity and more truth in the world.

“Hippie Radio”Desperate Man

“And I’d crank the band, take her hand, and we’d pull off back a road / A boy and his girl in a Pontiac, and the hippie radio”

As soon as this record came out, Church fans fell in love with this cut! The nostalgic tune may be a look back at the singer’s childhood, but it reminds us all of our own in one way or another.

“Pledge Allegiance to the Hag” Sinners Like Me

“When it’s time to go, you know you’re welcome back / Where the people pledge allegiance to the Hag”

One of the Chief’s most performed songs, this song is all about Church’s roots. Of course, the featured verse by Merle Haggard himself ups the ante on this unforgettable tune!

“Three Year Old”Mr. Misunderstood

“Walking barefoot through the mud, will knock the rust right off your soul / I learned that from a three year old”

This powerful song reminds us that we all can learn a thing or two from the young ones in our lives. We especially love the enticing story-telling nature of this amazing track.

“Carolina”Carolina

“Sayin’ honey I miss ya like crazy / Like the sound of a siren song / Oh Carolina, ya keep callin’ me home”

“Carolina,” the self-titled track off Church’s sophomore record is one of those songs you cannot help, but to fall in love with. It’s catchy, yet full of substance. Also, the fact that it was a solo-write by the Chief himself is just another reason why it just had to make our list!
